SnailyBoy
Its not like that at all but its been explained over and over the gospel is simple So it's okay to eat shellfish, not okay to have a blood transfusion, both are in the Old Testemant. How did you decide that eating shellfish is now okay, but having a blood transfusion is still bad?
kingdom
So it's okay to eat shellfish, not okay to have a blood transfusion, both are in the Old Testemant. How did you decide that eating shellfish is now okay, but having a blood transfusion is still bad? the key is in acts 15:28,29 : For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you except these necessary things to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from what is strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. Good health to you! this was the conclusion reached and instruction given when Jewish Christians were insisting on adhering to certain aspects of the mosaic law to newly converted gentile christians . How does that even come close to explaining the refusal of a blood transfusion?

SnailyBoy
It says to keep abstaining from blood Blimey, that's some leap, especially considering the progression of medical science. I certainly wouldn't follow Bronze Age mutterings for health advice. ---------- Post added 20-05-2015 at 12:55 ---------- It says to keep abstaining from blood This was a command given to all Christians . All Christians huh, do all Christians follow the command?
apelike
It says to keep abstaining from blood This was a command given to all Christians . But that was to do with drinking or eating blood and as transfusions were unheard of then it couldn't apply to them. It was a common practice in those times for certain sects to sacrifice animals to idols and drink the blood. Animals that were strangled and not butchered or did not have their throats slit also contained blood so eating them was classed as sinful and abhorrent. flamingjimmy
Not all Christians do follow that command as it not taught ! But maybe it should be ! Why didn't god make the bible simple, so that all Christians believe the same stuff? Wouldn't that have been so much better?
