Sheffield City Council ticketing in Hillsborough

Recommended Posts

Would they be the same people who have to risk their lives on a daily basis because motorists are forced up and down residential side streets because the council install bus and tram gates stopping motorists from using main roads. ?

A good example is traffic in hillsbro being forced up taplin road because during certain hours every day they cant drive straight through hillsbro corner because of the bus gate.

Taplin Road was busy before the tram gate.

That was caused by traffic being forced up Taplin Road by the sheer number of cars trying to drive through Hillsborough Corner and therefore causing massive delays.

They Ticket Sheffielders for parking on suspended bays while at the same time doing the same thing them selves with impunity.

One incident, years ago now.

It's very time consuming and costly for people to gather evidence, print pictures, take time off work, respond to their nonsensical irrelevant templates. Councils purposely reject your paperwork so it's easier just to pay up, it's a bribe - accept the fine or we'll double it. They stop at nothing to raise money from motorists. They even talk about administrative errors or technical problems as though that excuses everything!

All Councils have to work within the legal framework that the Government have set up. They can't change the system which offers a discount for early payment.

As I have said before, you don't need to take time off work to contest a PCN. You can do it by letter or by telephone. You don't have to attend the tribunal. Sheffield Council do not reject paperwork to make it easier to pay up. Any system which processes tens of thousands of transactions will occasionally have problems and there will occasionally be human errors. When all is said and done, most people who get a PCN say they have done so because they made a mistake. The people who issue and process the penalties are not immune from making a mistake either.

They will also reduce the amount of parking spaces in order to increase profits, this is why parking restrictions have been introduced further and further into residential areas.

Nothing to do with the parking being taken up by commuters all day then?

In an area where ether are absolutely no restrictions, it is inevitable that when permit schemes are introduced, there is some reduction in the amount of available parking. Most of it is at junctions, around entrances etc. That is about safety and giving people access. Nothing whatsoever to do with increasing profits. If they wanted to make more money in an area of high parking demand, they would have more bays, not less.

Nowhere near the volume that is now "Forced" to use it. You can be sure the residents didnt get a say when the councul decided to turn their side street into a main road. But all the council are bothered about is their precious buses and trams .and to hell with everyone else.

You mean they fall into one of the hundreds of the councils carefully laid traps there purely and simply to raise revenue from motorists .

And you would know how? You profess not to live in Sheffield, but you seem to think you know what's going on. I used to live near Taplin Road and it's not that bad. It was much worse with rat runners before the restrictions were put in place.
