soft ayperth
What a time we had at High Storrs in the 50s. We accepted the strict disciplinary code as a challenge. Thanks to The Star for publishing the second of three excerpts from my new book. It describes the high jinks we used to get up to. The fun and games we used to get up to at High Storrs Grammar School for Boys when Elvis was King and George Mack ruled the roost. Thanks to Sheffield Star for publishing the second of three excerpts from my memoir. No, it's not a novel. But, it is set in Sheffield. http://www.thestar.co.uk/joys-and-heartaches-of-life-in-post-war-sheffield-1-7414197
LewisMem
I transferred to Abbeydale from Nether Edge in the fifth form. I still live a stones throw from where the school was and it's sad to see it turned into a housing development. I remember we'll all the teachers in Lazyed's list and my favourite was Charlie Simpson, who gave me my great love for the French language. My least favourite by the way was Boul! GOLDEN OLDIE
Does anyone have any memories of Notre Dame High School at Oakbrook in the mid 50s?
fatrajah
I was at Brincliffe Grammar from 1958 to 1963 & was taught by Mr Boul for 4 of the 5 years. I thought he was a good teacher apart from his short fuse & his "not suffering fools gladly" attitude. I later learnt that he fully expected to get a teaching post at Abbeydale Grammar but instead he had to stay on & teach at the newly created (& short-lived) Brincliffe Grammar. I imagine he felt betrayed & let down by this which may have accounted for his teaching style.

At the top of Furnace Lane, by the train station and, more importantly, opposite the pub. Just noticed the date of Dennis's response, I've just found this forum!
