Brunette
I used mattress.co.uk, they are Silentnights factory clearance website. Free delivery, Fab service, the guys who delivered it took it upstairs and unwrapped and put it in my room read for the sheets! Tried firmness of mattresses in a few random showrooms but they were all at least twice the price. Hope that helps x
monkey104
I bought one from Bensons earlier this year. Mattress is about 2 foot thick and comfy as hell. A lot higher than previous bed as I found out to my cost when I fell out of it and dislocated my shoulder!

faz2kool
Try Darnal Furniture Warehouse, behind McDonalds. Very good furniture there including Double and Single Beds.
Bypassblade
The wife's bed frame we had hand made by a joiner about 14 years ago its solid pine, when I had to move into my own bed 18 months ago, I got mine from Parkgate Mobility on Handsworth its an electric bed, that raises both ends to help me sleep. John Ashmore
I think John Lewis (Cole Bros, as it was in Sheffield). I bought a mattress from them. They told me if I wasn't satisfied, they would refund my money even after 30 days. I went to them, after spending a year arguing with Bensons for Beds. The mattress they sold me was absolutely terrible. It dipped in thew middle. "I'm only 11 stone, by the way" Trading standards eventually got me my money back. Wherever you do go, don't go to BENSONS FOR BEDS.
