Dentist city road

Recommended Posts

first of all sorry to rant and moan, i hate people that rant and moan...

so im 31, the last time i went to the dentist i was 17! never had and issue with my teeth at all, not even tooth ache...

the wife insisted that I sign up to a dentist just in case i need one so i said yeah ok lets do that...

so i went to the one just off city road (dont know the name)

first impressions....

DIRTY! RUN DOWN! SMELLY! COULD DO WITH A LICK OF PAINT...

anyway so i went for a check up, bare in mind iv got no issues...

dentist seemed nice enough but said i was in need of 2 filling, i said that i didnt feel any pain or anything and there were no signs of rot etc...

£49 later i had an appointment for the work...

2 weeks later i go the the work doing my appointment was at 10.30am, the dentist saw me at 12.00pm. that was annoying!

there were about 12 people on a room that was about 6x5 foot

anyway so iv had the filling, and now eating or drinking anything hot or cold is unbareable!!!!

even breathing through my mouth hurts!

anyone else at this s**t hole? im meant to be going back in a few weeks for a clean and polish but i dont want too coz i think hes making stuff up to get peoples money!

every person there was having fillings! i though that was a bit strange as it is!

it was like a bloody cattle market he had 10 patients at once going in one after the other for the injections then they sat down then we went back for the actual fillings!

is this a standard thing? where can io get a second opinion?

im so annoyed i want my 49quid back!!

Yes, I can tell you it is common practice for the injections to be done, then given 10 minutes or so to actually kick in before the work is done, and if there are others waiting, you go back to the waiting room - This has always happened to me.

As for the rest of it, it doesn't sound good! I'd change dentist :(

Not trying to have a pop at you or anything but i'm guessing you Dental knowledge is next to none. I was in the same situation as you, hadn't been to a dentist in years as I brush my teeth and consider them to be spot on. Anyway after my appointment I too needed fillings and after having them done I too had a bit of pain for a few weeks.

Rather than ranting about it I decided to call the dentist and ask for a bit of advise and was told that when teeth are left for a while with breaks / holes, even if you brush your teeth over time decay will build up in the area which will to an extent cover nerves and prevent pain however they need filling or eventually they will get a great deal worse over time. After cleaning the holes and filling them like I say I had a bit of pain but after a while it calmed down again and my teeth are spot on.

If you have a serious worry then complain and cause an uproar but i'd imagine having been in your shoes that the dentist has done exactly the same as mine did for me which worked great for me. As for the smelly dingy rooms and long waiting times if you don't like that then find another dentist.

By the sounds of it the treatment was NHS band anyway so if you don't like it why not try the new NHS dentists in the area? The ones with the 6 week waiting lists!

You know you say you feel you have no issues with your teeth as well, as you feel no pain? I've got a black cracked upper right back tooth that needs fixing, and I wouldn't ever know because of its position - That doesn't hurt. Also a bottom right wisdom tooth with a hole in the front of it (which I can see) but also doesn't hurt. There are things that you sometimes can't see and don't realise are wrong until its too late and the tooth is knackered and needs to come out.

What a load of garbage this thread is! I'm sorry but it has to be said, by the sounds of things you've made your own mind up so what exactly are you looking for on here? I'm unsure as to what your trying to achieve by this thread, you don't like the Dentist fair play but you don't need average joe to come along and re-affirm this for you do you, you've made your own mind up so why not leave it at that?

All of the extras that your adding on to me suggest you either have a serious chip on your shoulder towards the dentist for whatever reason and are intent on slandering the hell out of them or you are looking for some sort of reaction from other forum users.

You don't like your dentist then it is simple isn't it, go and find another one and stop harping on about it on here when all you have are accusations which can't be backed up. Things like this seriously rife me, attacks on Doctors, Dentists, Bus Drivers and the police. We'd be pretty bloody lost without them and I in your case I am more than confident that your dentist did right by you having been in your situation myself. If you have a complaint then grow up and go and deal with it!

It's the one up in the industrial estate behind the nice looking dentist which is on city road itself.

And what I'm looking for by this thread is other people who use this dentist to reply with their experiences of it. As I am new to it I want some feedback from other customers!

I do not have a chip on my shoulder at all I'm just unhappy with something and wanted to know if I was the only one!

Thank you

I'm glad you clarified that, and I would ask a mod to change the title of your thread to avoid any confusion. I use Castle Dental on City Road myself and have always found them to be polite, friendly, helpful and totally professional. In addition, the premises are spotless(have to be, all the treatment rooms are kitted out in black gloss!) and the standards of hygiene are the best I've seen. It would be a shame if anyone read just a couple of posts into this thread and assumed it was this practice that you were talking about.

And no, before anyone asks the usual question, I don't work there!

I have been there , my partner and children . To be honest I am not happy with there service But as we needed an NHS dentist that was taking on NHS we had little choice, it is in great need of paint , cleaning .

I am now in the process of finding a private dentist and paying for treatment for the family as I feel this would be more better for the health of our families teeth.

The man who does the treatment at this practice says one thing on one visit then you go for your treatment only to be told at the follow up appointment that more treatment is needed, then you come home do a little research on what he is/has recommended to find out he is not allowed to carry this treatment out himself but it needs a "specialist" to do the treatment

To be honest it's a back street dentist with a back street attitude , that is my opinion ,as though he should not be in practice

Again my experience and thoughts

My kids have been going there regularly for 10 yrs + with no problems, the dentist has always been kind and hygienic,im guessing leaving it for so long, has caused you the problems NOT the dentist.
