It's not 1% or 0.5% though, is it? You have painted a hypothesis as if it's fact. What about Christian terrorists like the Real IRA? What would happen if 1% of Christians were terrorists? There are over 2 billion Christians so there'd be more Christian terrorists than muslim terrorists.

After the Bali bombs, Indonesia's tourist market dropped to nothing overnight.

That's all over Indonesia, not just Bali.

Indonesia is 86% Muslims so guess who 86% of the people who lost their income were.

Religion is a medium through which people can control others and get their own way. Having god on your side and lots of indoctrinated, predominantly poor and uneducated people at your disposal is a big help too.

 

The big Abrahamic faiths have spent centuries imposing their 'will' on the world and each one invokes suffering and hardship in one form or another (and indeed death) as the 'terms and conditions' of their faith .

 

I agree that as Islam siezes more power across the Middle East, the fundies will show their hand and we may then have several 'Irans' to contend with. At least we knew where we were with the former Dictators which is why the USA didn't want to upset the status quo. They knew this power vacuum would follow with potentially devastating results.
