Bilge
Mama Mia on Langsett Rd, doesn't look much from outside but the food is really good It doesn't look much from the outside and the food and ambience aren't brilliant either. To say it's the best Italian in Sheffield is ludicrous, I doubt the 'chef' would even claim that. It's cheap though and better than you might think. The best has to be Marco at Milano. It's the 'posh' Italian that does everything you would want. You can eat there without spending an absolute fortune though which is good to remember. For the 'no frills' good fun, good value restaurant, BB's is the best. I also like La Terrazza. Casanova's in Crookes is a safe bet as is Vito's. La Scala next door to Marco looks like it might be good, but not been there yet. The new one one in Crosspool sounds all right from what i've read. Several others are all worth using if you live near them. I didn't like Rossi's, only went once. Never been to Mama's and Leonie's because of all the negatives i've read on here (and it's not really Italian anyway). Antibo's is OK but too big and not cosy enough. Gondola - nowt special and there is always the threat of an awful singalong from the staff so I've never been back. The Hillsborough ones - I wouldn't bother frankly. La Romantica and the little one in Crookes - they both look so terrible that I've never been through the doors! Maybe they are OK but kerb appeal counts too. dalekk
I really like the Bella Italia at the Centertainment, I haven't been to many other Italian restaurants in Sheffield though so I couldn't say if it was the best or not! It's been quite busy when I've gone in the evening but lovely and quiet at lunchtime yesterday, good service too
