Same problem here, basic things on the menu missing, not nice at all, we did complain and they offered us a free drink to compensate, but its like most chain grub pubs nowadays, all microwaved meals already cooked and frozen, Weatherspoons is the same....

Why would any sane person go for a night out to a boozer and sit and watch the telly, irrespective of what was on the screen. Go to the nearest supermarket, buy cheap ale and sit at home and watch the bloody box. Leave the pub's to those who go for good conversation, food, the atmosphere the general all round pub night out. Telly in pubs - ban them.

Regards

Angel.

So in order to be a great pub you have to have Sky? There are loads of great pubs in Sheffield which are great partly because they don't have Sky. Things like the drink, prices, amosphere, food, customers, etc, also come into it.

Or TV of any sort! As Alco says,if you want to watch TV stay at home.

Just found out that The Park Hotel is removing sky tv from the pub, surely this is the final nail in the coffin of a once great pub.

In my mind there is nothing to stop it being turned into a full restaurant, which it appears is what the brewery and landlord wants

Going to the pub saturday afternoon for a pint and watching football is slowly but surely going to be a thing of the past..To be honest, food is where the money is and sky is rediculously expensive for pubs.at the end of the day pubs are a business and need to make money.

If you are watching live football on a Saturday afternoon you aren’t watching Sky. :suspect:

The majority of the locals will carry on going in there. Althoguh the food is poor, a lot of the bar staff rude, the locals go there for cheap beer and it being a local pub.

given what it costs to have sky in licensed premises it's perhaps unsuprising that people are having it taken out ....

Maybe but what about the customers its got was only 10 years ago it was in the top3 biggest grossing pubs in Sheffield, Iknow for a fact that it was the best performing pub in south yorkshire when the brewery sold it a couple of years ago, it was only sold as a perk for buying 5 other pubs that was running at a loss

Dont know where you got the idea it was sold a couple of years ago it is still part of the same company it has always been, it has been in continual growth over the past 5 yrs and has not been running at a loss at all for over 9 years. 10 years ago it was really struggling
