crookesey   635 #85 Posted August 10, 2011 This is just the sort of store that brain dead idiots would fire bomb, if the riots spread to Sheffield. I can't afford a Ferrari, but I couldn't torch one, why destroy beautiful things?
 Share this content via...
jimbob321 Â Â 10 #86 Posted August 10, 2011 My bedroom furniture is from Ponsford. Had it about 8 years and still looks new! You get what you pay for.
 Share this content via...
itp305 Â Â 10 #87 Posted August 10, 2011 This a local company and people should try to support local businesses otherwise we will end up with no specialist firms in Sheffield.
 Share this content via...
crookesey   635 #88 Posted August 10, 2011 This a local company and people should try to support local businesses otherwise we will end up with no specialist firms in Sheffield.  They are very well supported by loyal and satisfied customers, my late grandmother loved the place, and she lived at Heeley, The Manor and Gleadless in her time, so there was no snob value there. hazel   11 #90 Posted August 11, 2011 I bought my dinning suite and lounge furniture and carpet from Ponsfords when I married in 1961. Ercol Dinning table and chairs and a G-plan unit settee. The carpet was still going strong 30 years later and table and chairs were quite recently used at my brothers place, made of solid wood oak and elm they were made to last. hazel
 Share this content via...
legal-libbs   10 #91 Posted August 11, 2011 I was recommended by a work colleague to have a look and was suitably impressed.  Being from London I am used to having more choice but think the shop is okay and definitely not overpriced compared to prices down south ! bluestreak1 Â Â 10 #95 Posted June 3, 2012 I was surprised to read some negative comments about Ponsfords - obviously by people who have never shopped there - and they certainly don't sell toasters. I originally made the assumption that the store was for people with bags of money, but it just isn't so. I enjoy the quality of John Lewis but find Ponsfords far superior and having purchased a package from there including sofas ,curtains and carpets at very competetive prices that John Lewis couldn't match, and having brilliant service from all those involved I can't help but highly recommend the place - I am not wealthy - but hopefully pretty shrewd - you can also get 0% interest free finance for 10 months - a no brainer!
