Hi List Tracing Your Family History

Recommended Posts

Hi List,

I found the Sheffield forum by chance and if it is okay thought I might ask a question.

I am interested in family history and I wondered if there was anyone out there with similar interests.

Looking for anyone researching the Revills, Hackets,Gillotts in Sheffield. Lingards in Sheffield and Eckington, Watkinson's in Sheffield.Any advice welcome as I have hit a brick wall with my Revills and Lingards.

Thanks Everyone.

Cher:thumbsup:

When I am not ******* about on this Forum (wonder if that word will be edited by the mighty force that is this great facility) I am also a bit of an addict on this front myself, having spent 20 years hard at it.

If you need help of a more general nature then please do PM me and I will do my best to point you in the direction of your ancestors and their homesteads

I may be able to help you on the Lingards, does Frank ring any bells.

The Gillotts i know two sets of them and the revell family to, maybe theres a connection.

Mrs Revillle was of German origin, are we close.

UPDATE

Sorry mistake, i meant Mrs Lingard was of German Origin not Reville.

I have emailed you.

If anyone is researching their family tree in Sheffield, they ought to subscribe to the Sheffield Rootsweb digest.

last year i found some of mine on the census for the 1800s.

is it 1881 or something.

i also found a lot of records of my family on the http://www.familysearch.org/ try all the different search indexes on the left.

this search site is run by the church of latter day saints,

who are a charity that specialise in birth marriage and death records.

but i have tried the 1901 census site and find it cant find anything

at all. its a bit rubbish.
