'Advert for 'reliable workers' banned as discriminatory'

Recommended Posts

No, they are specific requirments. punctual means timely, hard working means get on with the work set before yo, concientious is to give thought to the work your doing ect ect.

Reliable is too far stretching and not specific enough. The other things are something that you can recognise as being requirements and reliable is down to the descretion of the employer as to what they concider reliable. If that makes any sence ? :D

..the ad was banned for being discriminatory....not for using the wrong word......

When an employer advertises a job vacancy, surely it goes without saying that they're looking for "reliable" people ; as daft as this may sound, "reliable workers" is kind of becoming a euphemism for "foreign" workers, especially for cleaning jobs etc.

Idiots are part of our society. they enlighten our lives in a myriad of different ways. The world would be a much duller place without them.

Yes, we would definitely miss you, Sid

Is it going to come to employers only engaging people who admit to being tardy, dishonest and lazy in case they get sued for turning them down? Will good people be thrown on to the scrapheap and replaced by the feckless who have every other day off and on the days they DO bother to come in, come in an hour or so late?

I have placed quotation marks around this news item, because it appears the 'banning' was done by some lower Pond life within a job centre, who appears to have misinterpreted the rules, rather than as a result of a correct interpretation of government policy. However, it does raise questions as to how anyone with a brain cell, even those thoroughly indoctrinated with the edicts of political correctness, could assume that a request for 'reliable workers' could fall foul of anti-discrimination legislation.

Forget about 'pond life' .. think 'primordial soup' and 'lowest link'... of the evolutionary ladder. Who wants to employ a numpty when you're trying to improve your business? Good old Job Centre... you can't blame them- they hire these people to work for them then it becomes incremental! :loopy:

I doubt political correctness has much to do with it, just plain old idiocy. In a previous job I used to place ads with Jobcentre Plus on behalf of people, and the people who answered the phones didn't have two braincells between them.

You'd read the ad out, then they'd read back what they'd written down which rarely bore any resemblance to the original. People only use them because they're free (except they're not really because we pay for them through taxation).

That's exactly how ‘Political Correctness’ works. Every jumped-up piece of ‘Pondlife’, incapable of rational thought, is out to show to the world just how politically correct they can be.

Indoctrinating the masses worked for Hitler and the communist regimes, now it's the liberals who are seeking to impose their doctrine on the masses.
