Tony   10 #1 Posted January 9, 2010 Here's a plan to get things moving, our kids back in school and business back to work no matter what the weather brings this weekend.  On Monday when you take the kids to school, take a shovel and pick up just a little road salt from the grit bin on the way. Spend just five short minutes helping to clear the school paths before leaving.  A school with 250 parents will have over 20 man-hours of snow clearing done before school begins. Five minutes of effort and you get your day back and the kids into school.  Yes?
 Share this content via...
fishandchips   10 #2 Posted January 9, 2010 Doubt it will work, people seem to be quick to complain that everything shuts down in the snow, but not willing to do a thing about it.
 Share this content via...

Im fed up to my back teeth listening to people moan about gritters etc. Everyone who is able bodied just needs to chip in.  My neighbours and i all spent nearly an hour shovelling snow so we could get on/off our lane. Its not a major route, so i dont expect anyone but ourselves to do it!
 Share this content via...
Mathom   10 #5 Posted January 9, 2010 A very good idea. I'm waiting for the "but you might get sued!" lot to start now...
 Share this content via...

Tony   10 #10 Posted January 9, 2010 We haven't run out of road salt but if you can't find any don't let that stop you from taking a shovel and helping out for five minutes.
 Share this content via...
max   13 #11 Posted January 9, 2010 Don't be silly Tony, people won't want to spill grit and salt on the floor of their 4x4s. And as for actually getting out when they drop their brats off, heaven forfend.
 Share this content via...

And as for actually getting out when they drop their brats off, heaven forfend.  That's pretty much what I was thinking, max.  Can you "broadcast" handfuls of grit, anyway, from the driver-seat of the 4x4 as you drop little peregrine and Saskia at their school gates?
