scallyboy
well it should come as no surprise that this school has failed its ofsted report, disruptive classes, supply teachers a mnagement team wityouy a clue and that's the going rate for 30 million today is it,i wonder if this shambolic way of running a school would be tolerated in another postcode say tapton for instance, unemloyment up the country in economic freefall and a generation at least of children failed educationally by dint of their catchment area,so a big thankyou to all resposible. willman
I have a friend who teaches there - on a higher pay scale for being a school in special needs. I wouldn't let her teach well behaved 6 year olds tbh. But then again with no comprehension of the social environment, no surprise there .
peterw
I have a grand-daughter attending that school. My old, pre-1939 schools were Hunters Bar, then after passing an examination at the ripe old age of ten, High Storrs Grammar where, with my help and attention, they taught me grammar. It was the only subject in which I was interested. My grand-daughter, however, has learned very little of anything for two reasons; first she was born within the wrong Postcode and second my son became involved with another highly criticised Sheffield City Council department whose actions ensured she remained in that Postcode. I don’t have any answers to this problem of education except, in my grand-daughter’s place, once she leaves school, and if I am still living! (old age has crept up on me) I will pester my son — although I do not think he will need pestering — to ensure she gets more education, either privately or at a further education college. Now, about the school and its teachers. From what I have heard, I can only assume that if the teachers don’t really connect with their students nothing much is going to happen. If their methods of teaching are of no interest, their students will not take an interest. A few weeks ago I assumed my son was joking when he told me my grand-daughter firmly believed that France was somewhere below (on a map) London! Further, she does not know — seriously — her left from her right. This, I think, may not be down to the school’s teaching practices but I think her teachers might have picked up on it and suggested this specific fault may be down to a medical defect. I will be seeing my son today, and will discuss this with him. Having been born in Sheffield I am still at heart a Sheffielder. I expect to be criticised for living in Manchester and even daring to suggest that there is ‘summat wrong wi’ t’place’, but frankly there IS a lot, not just ‘summat’, that needs to be seen to. What a pity it is that I think Gordon Brown has left it to me to remind Sheffielders in general that the best Committee is a Committee Of One. If ever a city needs a good Manager with overall control it’s Sheffield. Gordon, if the Commons Library has back copies of the magazine Socialist Commentary during the early 1970s I think the editor at that time gave me four pages on which to explore this revolutionary theory. It began with would-be local councillors facing examinations to either prove or disprove their ability to serve their public. Same for would-be MPs. Finally, back to this deplorable education issue. The news about this particular Academy has not long been with us, but I am surprised that I am able to have my say very early. I expected already on an 82,000-strong forum to see page after page on this subject, but NO! Not yet, anyway. Is it so bad that even parents have gone off the subject, or are you all completely disinterested in what happens to children once they close the front door behind them and head for … what? The kind of future that cpomes with a lack of education … education … education! Didn’t a high-flying legal eagle-cum-politician say that, or have I just this minute made it up? _BLADESMAN_
'A few weeks ago I assumed my son was joking when he told me my grand-daughter firmly believed that France was somewhere below (on a map) London!' Don't want to sound pedantic but if France isn't south of London, where is it?

However she is from a middle class family with money and she has a typical right wing ish attitude to people who are non white or on benefits. Sheffield Park Academy is not the place for her to be of any use at all.
Mr Pops
I took my girls out of there in January this year, just in time me thinks. The kids have no respect for the staff, the Staff have no control over the kids. I witnessed a pupil throw a ball of screwd up paper at the head teacher ,then told her to shove it . Out of control THEY HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE DOWN THERE..............................................................
