lizelard
Firstly, sorry if this is not in the right place? Family of 10 going to Florida in the summer for the first time. Any tips on ticket buying, pitfalls must see's etc. The children range from 4-14 and this will be a once only opportunity (until they can pay for themselves, and pay to take the old folks with them) Many Thanks Liz
Classic Rock
Avoid the places at the side of the road which offer theme park tickets for cheap prices. Before you get them you have to go on a half day tour of timeshares with a sales pitch thrown at you. I got my Disney tickets from Floridatix.com. Just google 'disney tickets' and shop around online. We bought our Universal tickets on the day. If you get week long or 2 week long passes you can come and go when you are there and aren't tied to specific days and can keep going back. ClaraBella
Seaworld is an absolute must, we buy our tickets there and there is normally some sort of offer on such as buy one day get another free. Seaworlds opened a water park and apparently if you buy a ticket for the water park you get 7 free days in seaworld. Make sure you have plenty of time in the parks to see the parades and fireworks at night. We normally go early for when it opens, go back home round lunch and go back for the parade at night, this works best when it's really hot. pitsmoorlad
At some restaurants there's leaflets etc which have discount vouchers for various things, (but not the big theme parks). Grab as many as you can, a lot give you discounts at restaurants, crazy golf, smaller attractions, use what you want, discard what you don't. BIG BIG TIP. Make sure you get some rest days, the parks are much bigger than you imagine and really do take all day to go round, you will be exhausted. Take bottles of water, you can refill them in the parks, rather than buy them there. Definitely go to Seaworld. The kids of all ages will love it. ClaraBella
Also theres a book available called the Brits guide to Florida it tells you what are the best days to visit which parks and which rides are the best. Plus lots of other stuff you need to know about Florida.
Maxster
We went last year and the hotel we stayed in gave us Priority Passes for Universal and Disney. They were great; no queuing just go straight to the front as many times as you want. I think you can buy them on-line.
Classic Rock
When in theme parks you can get priority passes for free. Simply go to the ride you want to queue hop, put your entrance pass into the machine by the entrance to the ride, it'll then issue you a priority pass with a time on it, you then go to another ride and return at the given time to get in quicker. Alas you can only get one of these passes per hour, but it pays to get a PP, queue for a ride and go on it, get another PP, go to the ride where you have the first PP and then just keep up the routine. You get round much faster.
birdsandbees
Be prepared if it is hot as I found that all the shade was taken very quickly. you can hire a pushchair/trolly type thingy that caters for ages up to 6, a godsend if your 4 year old flaggs in the heat, and somewhere useful to store all the things a family takes into the park. Take your own water, we froze bottles of water to take on days out so as they defrosted, it was cooler longer. Seawork can be a relaxing day if you plan to go and watch the shows, if your family (like most) want to sit inthe soak zone you have to be really early for shows. give each child a budget to buy things from the parks as it is easier to say "do you have enough money left" rather than "no", even 4 year olds can understand this. and as every show you see has souvenirs it can work out very expensive. As others have mentioned you can buy tickets at each place, and they often have deals such as buy 1 day get another free, or free pass into another park. but if you want to budget before you go, you can buy these online before you go from loads of places, I got ours from Going Places, and the time before from Virgin. always ask for discounts for buying so many. Load of places offer buffet type meals, at Pondarosa (got to try at least once) you order your main meal as you go in, and eat from the buffet until it arrives, becarful with this as you full up quickly on the buffet and when you mail meal arrives its sometimes hard to eat it all. but this again is great for the small ones, as you share meals so does not work out so expensive. last of all have a good time and CAN I COME TOOOOOOOOO

Dizzyblonde
Its worth visiting busch gardens, bit of a drive from central orlando but well worth the effort. Busch parks have free beer, so while the teenagers queue for a big ride, you can take in a sample.
