  1. I'd highly recommend Flourish at Crookes- Laura and her team are amazing and did some beautiful cricket and musical themed arrangements for both my Dad and Grandmas funerals
  2. Interested to read this thread -I was brought up goi to this chapel with my grandmother and can remember the celebrations at one of the church anniversaries. my Gran was so sad when it closed as it had been a big part of her whole life, we have several relatives in the church yard and my Gran was due to be buried in there with her parents but just before she died asked to be buried at wisewood due to the condition of the cemetery. I drive that way to work each morning and have noticed that sign for a builders has appeared on the wall at the bottom of the driveway and on Friday evening the whole churc (or at least what is left of it) seemed to be lit up? I know of one of the councillors on the parish council and she was meant to be talking about access to the graves but all has gone quiet on that front. I'd be interested to know if anyone has heard anything?
  3. Loxley motors at Malin bridge have done my car for years and I've always been happy with the service and prices!
  4. Thank you for letting us know- I have passed your message onto my Mum. However given the recent cases of dogs being poisoned around the s6 area I can understand why my Mum and probably other dog walkers will have panicked at seeing this scattered around lamp posts this morning. It has meant a distressing morning for my mother, a mad dash to the vets just in case, un necessary medication and treatment for the dog and a vet bill. At least it will reassure my Mum he won't suddenly take a turn for the worse over night.
  5. I think so, just been up to see him now and he was practically his usual self which was good to see. If I hear what it is I'll let u know ---------- Post added 17-11-2015 at 21:09 ---------- Also meant to say the vet told her it definitely wasn't rat poison!
  6. No she doesn't have it still the vets have kept it!
  7. Thanks Lotti! That's great! Someone locally has said they saw a man and a woman with a pop bottle sprinkling stuff around lamp posts last night - he thought they might be from the scouts doing orienteering so left them too it! I've sent the scouts an email asking if they might be able to confirm it so will also update if I hear anything! Thankfully he seems to be ok, he has charcoal all around his face and is feeling a bit sorry for himself. Unfortunately this isn't the first time it's happened and mom got really upset as the first time we nearly lost him as he was only young I just don't get why people do this sort of stuff!
  8. Yes mom took a bag of it that she went back and scooped up with her- the vets were going to ring the council they said to check if they knew of anything that had been used. Will update if I hear anymore
  9. Am waiting for the latest update but he seems OK a quick trip to the vets and an injection To make him sick plus charcoal has hopefully stopped it being more serious. I will ask my mom to report it to 101! The vet didn't really know what it was - it had the appearance of flour but they were more worried that it could have been laced with something Even if it was just flour the upset that it has caused is unfair and the poor dog with a trip to the vets! I don't get why people do these sorts of things- it appears to be deliberate as it was round the base of the lamp posts and on more than 1!
  10. This morning my mom has taken her dog out for a walk only to find a white powder sprinkled around lots of the lamp posts on her route ( Stannington road area near the infant school). Not sure what it is but thought it worth mentioning for people to keep an eye out for it. Unfortunately her dog managed to eat a bit of it before she could get to him and she's now in for a worrying few hours and a trip to the vets whilst we see if there is something sinister to it!
  11. I have a friend who uses Bolehill nursery and is quite happy with them, that's crookes/walkley way.
  12. There's the sixer in the s6 area which is a printed free magazine and is always full of adverts, think mosborough has something similar?
  13. Flourish at crooked are great, I used them for both my dad and grandmothers funerals and the prices are really competitive and and she has a great range of ideas etc.
  14. Could I ask about the symptoms please? Might be helpful so people know what to look out for? My mum lives in the Stannington area and this time last year her dog suddenly started vomiting and then collapsed - 3 days in the vets on a drip and a massive bill later he could finally come home but that was due to a suspected poisoning too! Though mum walked him in the village park at the time. I've also heard if a few dogs being poisoned down Rivelin, but not been able to confirm it? Some real awful people out there! After watching the suffering of moms little one due to his illness why anyone would do that to an animal is beyond me!
  15. Hi folks, Help needed, my mom has a mini schnauzer and since being neutered has started to show quite a bit of aggression at certain times. He's fine if you go near him when he's eating, he'll let u move the bowl and you can take all his toys off him without fear but pick up a piece of paper/a leaf or other item he definitely shouldn't have he he's snappy and tried to bite. He's recently nipped my moms arm and now we don't know where to go next! Any ideas welcome! Any recommendations of people who could help up would be greatly appreciated! For the most part he's a lovely little dog it's just these isolated incidents that are really affecting things! Thanks!
