Olemorris
I 've just seen a green parrot-like kooking bird in a tree in my garden. It was about size of a small magpie, with a reddish beak and longish tail. Anyone know what it might be? I have heard about flocks of parakeets living wild in the south of UK - could this be a northern adventurer or more likely escaped from captivity? BasilRathbon
Be careful; there's a story going round about mutant parrots breeding in Sheffield's sewers that stems from a time when the old pet shop on London Road disposed of unwanted baby parrots by flushing them down the toilet. Don't approach unless armed with a packet of Jacob's Cream Crackers!

I think it's an Indian Ringnecked parakeet- I used to own one (sadly, now an ex-parrot). They're the same ones that are living wild in London. Newsnerd
There was a parrot in Beighton a few years ago. Bob the Beighton parrot. No idea what happened to it but it survived all winter.
Peacock Lady
Could it have been a woodpecker, do you think? They're often confused with parrots when first spotted.
melody on
I am sure it is a parakeet. They are regular visitors in Meersbrook. Not flocks, but odd ones or pairs. I usually spot them by hearing their squawky cry as they fly over.
