  1. Thanks for your messages, all. Looks like it was through a downstairs window- which had been closed with the levers down, so I have no clue how they managed it. Make sure yours all locked. Post about backing up data is so good. We'd meant to take our back up hard drive to work for safekeeping and never got round to it, which is just silly. This was yesterday (friday 14th) between 8.30 am and 5.30pm. If anyone did happen to see anyone on a very big black bike (seat height set for someone who is 6 foot 5 tall) struggling with a bag full of my stuff (bag may or may not have been marked 'swag'!), around the Machon Bank, Moncrieff Road and Joshua Road area yesterday, please PM me? Thanks
  2. If you could please just find the decency to post my external computer hard drive back through my door, it would be appreciated. You have taken my computer and my camera and memory cards too, and therefore all of my photos of the last five years of my life. It's worth so little to you but so much to me. Thanks.
  3. Why don't you pack up a nice picnic and some champagne (or sparkling wine, given the financial climate) and take her to the concert in the Botanical Gardens? i think it starts around 6.30pm. iIve been the last few years, and it is a lovely and different way to spend a warm summer's evening. And the orchestra are excellent! You need tickets, but I think you can get them from shop in the Botanical Gardens - or you might be able to pay on the door...
  4. We went to La Mama last night and it was absolutely amazing. Every single tapas dish we had was awesome, really authentic and really unusual - latin american rather than Spanish, so totally different to anywhere else in Sheffield (and totally different to any tapas restaurant I've been to, for that matter). The ceviche was incredible - the only time I have had better was in South America itself. Mmmm lovely! It is a really lovely venue too - a lovely friendly atmosphere and great music. I will certainly be back. I am so impressed that there is somewhere so amazing and so different within 10 minutes walk of my house Highly recommended. And I am totally impartial, for the record!
  5. in the edge.... i know it was too snowy/icy on 2nd and 9th Dec but it was not so bad today! It's getting a bit silly now....
  6. Mirror Mad on Abbeydale Road is amazing! There is a really lovely man who sells loads of different mirrors but also sources reclaimed wood and makes mirrors. I have a mirror made of 1920's floorboards from an old bank (the one opposite the entrance to Wolseley Road) from him; it is beautiful and so individual! He does loads of different styles - go and see him! He also has a website - can't remember the address but just google 'mirror mad sheffield'. Lovely lovely man!
  7. my boyf is going to a party as Papa Lazarou from the League of Gentlemen and I am already petrified...
  8. it was pretty much outside Spar at about 17.45. not sure how much of the road is closed. I just hope all are ok.
  9. if you're near Abbeydale Road it might be because of the accident around 5.45pm. It looks like someone was hit by a bus. I hope to goodness that they are ok.
  10. Hello, I went to The Stag on Psalter Lane last Saturday evening with my sister and her family, including nieces aged 5 and 2. They have a huge outside play area for kids and the menu and food looked nice, though we didn't eat there so I can't say if it was or not! It was a fairly standard pub menu, but you can eat in the garden if its sunny, so the children can play! It took me aaages to find a place that we could go with them, so yes, a list of child friendly places would be very useful!
  11. Popped in today for a late lunch... Y.U.M! It was sooo good - we had a chicken mole burrito and a chilli beef burrito, both absolutely delicious! It was good to see it so busy, too! Highly recommended. All I would say is that some music might be nice in the background? Not a criticism, but it would add to the atmosphere I think. I hope you do really well with this, I will certainly be back!
  12. If it is a special occasion, I wouldn't go there. I've been twice (once before and once after a holiday in Vietnam, both times within the last year), and it was awful both times. The food is just not good, and not very Vietnamese either! I thought it was just the choices that i made, but the people I was out with thought it was awful too... That said, it is always busy, so perhaps it is just us - I wouldn't want you to be disappointed on a special occasion though!
  13. The wine gums at Fitzalan Square were just what the doctor ordered! Thank you so much for those! What an awesome day. My first half marathon - 2hrs 9 minutes but I'll take that, just because I didn't stop running once. : ) Well done to all, see you next year! And also thank you so much to everyone who came out to support the runners! It spurred me on so much, I'm sure the same is true for everyone else that was running too. Truly amazing. Sheffield is great sometimes
