  1. aww...ok Well you know where we are now at least. Was really good last night.
  2. I'm sure you'll be welcome back anytime Farmboy. I started in 1997 so will have missed you.
  3. yup Yup, the one and only. Did you train at the London Rd Club. I miss it:mad:
  4. Thanks Farmboy, We now train at Endcliff United Reform Church opposite Hallam Tennis Club and Endcliff Park on Ecclesall Road. Is it sport Wado ryu that we grade in but the instructor(3rd Dan) is from a traditional background. Wednesday Night 7-8 mixed grades 8-9 Blue and above £4 one hour £5 two hours feel free to PM me Emma
  5. im 23 but all those years ago when i was going through this process i put King Ecgberts as first choice and newfield as last (i was in their catchment area) we appealed and i got to go to King Ecgberts. I can't remember what reason my mum put but I;m pretty sure it was something as simple and my best friend was going to King Ecgberts. As your son has what may be discribed as a disability, King Ecgbert would be a good choice...they have/have what they called the Resource with specialist staff to help kids out with thier various difficulties. Good Luck
  6. when i was there mrs winters was the music teacher and the art teachers were mr and mrs williams!
  7. maybe she did? what is her name? i trained with loads of partners over the years... stan used to teach around manchester as well as his thursday night class in sheffield...i don;t know where he is now...maybe out hilsborough way!?
  8. Thanks, I did think about getting the bus or more likely...the train. I'd be working out on site and would require a car for that...though not neccesarily everyday. This is why I am trying to establish how long it would take to drive to Rotherham centre though. Should hopefully find out if I have an interview or not in the next few days as the deadline was almost a week ago...:-/
  9. hello...think they may have accpeted my application....so 20-40 minute commute you say...SOUNDS LIKE HEAVEN!! :-) no plans for any large scale roadworks are there? would my best route be up the parkway? thanks for the advice guys!
  10. I wish to thank you all for the info you have provided! Unfortunately because of the workload and several urgent matters raising their heads at my current job I did not have time to get my application form in by noon today :-( therefore I will not be working in Rotherham....the job was at Bailey House though..near the station I believe. So I will be continiuing with the daily communte to Nottingham...twice as long as the journey to Rotherham by the sounds of things.... Thanks again guys n girls
  11. Hi All, I wonder if any of you commute from Sheffield to Rotherham say to get there for 9am and leave at 5pm? I am thinking of applying for a job with Rotherham Council for which I would be based in the centre of Rotherham, and I live in the centre of Sheffield. An info on what the journey is like at peak times would be very much appreciated, as would any estimations on journey time. I am told by the 'AA Route Planner' that the distance between my home and the centre of Rotherham is 8.6 miles and the drive would take 18mins....though I'm not convinced that this would be the case in reality. I would need my car for work which puts commuting by train out of the picture (for the majority of working days anyway). Thanking you in anticipation:) Emma
  12. this class doesn't run anylonger....the rent was too high:mad: the class is now on a wed at endcliff united reform church just past hunter bar roundabout-opposite the tennis club. the youngest students there are about 12 though so may not be suitable for a 5 yr old.
  13. Hello, I commute from Sheffiled to Nottingham daily and have done for a year now. I started a simlar thread on here when i was thinking about taking this job. Today Ididn't leave Sheff (I live right near the centre) until 8.15ish and signed in at work (right in the centre of Nottm) at 9.50. I have to say the drive in the summar is far, far better than it is at this time of year!!! though last friday is only took me an hour to get home...i was a happy bunny:) The journey taskes between 1hr and 2 hrs...ave. over the summer being 1hr10 and at this time of year...1hr40 I am lucky as I have flexi. The route I take is through Chesterfield to meet the M1 at J29, then I come off at J26 and crawl through Nottingham...I've got to say this is the worse end of the run but if you are working just off the junction you should be fine. The motorway section, when things are running well takes 10-15mins...can take up to 30 though...if its really bad. I'm used the the commute now, have kind of accpeted it as part of my working day and I'll be working here for at least another 18months. Put it this way....its barable but i wouldn't travel any further, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the change when/if I get a job closer to home...maybe around Chesterfield hopefully. I'm looking forward to the 'festive season' being over and done with as the traffic will begin to calm again straight away....though I guess the motorway widening (between J28 and J25 is it?) will soon have its effects on my journey.
  14. the main gist of my response from SHU: I am sorry to learn that you are having these problems. We are already aware of these problems as we too are suffering from them on and around our campus. As you will be aware, the campus is open to the public as a through route and is used as a short cut/more safer route by both students from both universities and other residents in the area - so it is a really difficult problem to tackle. We are already in correspondence with the students union, our security dept, the police, environmental housing and health as well as the community groups in the areas about all these types of issues and various campaigns are ongoing - including a planned card to be hand delivered to all known students in private sector housing in the area in the next month which will include messages about anti social behaviour.
  15. Not a lot really.... They said that they could provide me with a crime ref number so that I am able to claim on my insurance-I only have 3rd party though. They are 'unable' to contact the University. I was given the Council's phone number...just the main switchboard though, but i'll ring anyway. I will also contact a local Counsillor and the Student Unions by mail. Someone did mention the SSHHH group at Sheff Uni, hopefully they will be helpful, they have a group on facebook that suggests that they should be. Not aware of Hallam having a similar group... People prob think I'm going OTT...it's such an irritation and expense though, now I know that there is a history of this for other local residents also-although there is no certain cure, I want to highlight that something has to be done.
  16. i think the united reform church on ecclesall road, opposite endcliffe park and the tennis club has one. i go there for karate and have seen children probably around 10-14 coming out of a club there. saturdays and wednesday....maybe?
  17. I asked the Collegiate Help desk and a Lady on the enquiries line to put me through to the most relevent persons.... neither were much use.
  18. Just a quick update guys.... Very disappointed in Hallams Reaction to this! I graduated from Hallam last year and was very pleased with all aspects of the uni. However, I called the Collegiate site this morning and according to the University’s main security office (who wouldn't speak to me personally) there's is absolutely nothing they can do as my car wasn't parked on their grounds. I suggested an email to students informing that poor behaviour had been reported may help-nope, not interested. I'm sure I recall receiving a general email while I was studying there relating to behaviour and the university’s reputation...something along those line. note: I’m not saying that it is people from Hallam that have caused the trouble. They may be from Sheffield uni...and like I say I have no proof of exactly who it was anyway....
  19. If it is students that are causing this damage (that seems to be the general opinion now) then I'd would have to park literally miles away from my house...not really fair in my opinion.
  20. Well it may change something for me and other local residents if any of the people causing the damage, or their friends read this. Also, yes the police will be made aware, today, on my lunch break...
  21. thanks for all your posts people, I am not sure what i am going to do though to be honest apart from speaking with the university. I may try stickers...but they may be to drunk to even read them. As for sensitive alarms...I worry they might go off all the time-even when people just walk past and i'll have to get out of bed every five mins, as well as waking my neighbours. I just hope they read this and realise how annoynig their actions are and costly too!!....and don't do it again.
