  1. Think Ian Hamilton lived on Frecheville and was in my year at school I am 64 this year. think he palled about with Pete Hides.
  2. Yes she was, but Oh boy did you remember what she taught you? Both me and my husband both do - her favourite "If a things worth doing, It's worth doing well" was often heard in our house when my kids were little and we still say it today, then add 'Miss Green Frecheville School' Some of the boys (my friends!!) threw me and my friend Lynne in Frecheville pond one lunchtime and Jim Greensmith (no longer with us) dobbed us in and the next morning in assemble Miss green said" the two gilrls who were 'Swimming!' in The pond yesterday, report to my office - more red hands - well you never dobbed friends in did you? I am sure it was her that cause my bad joints in my hands!!
  3. Are you the same age as me. I am 64 in June, or my Husband Kenneth Hollingsworth, he was in the same class as Hazel Carr and Played in the football team with Dickie Crookes (who I still meet up with) and David Herriot. I have a photo of this team that Dickie sent me. If you would like a copy let me know. e.mail [email protected] and I will mail you a copy. Not sure if I could make the reunion as my son goes back to Sri Lanka the following day and I have only had him home for a couple of weeks. but if you are in my year at school I would love to come to the next one. If you are in Hazel Carr's group remember me to her.
  4. Are you the same age as me? I am 64 in June or are you in the same age group as my hsband Kenneth Hollingsworth? Hazel Carr was in his class and I know they meet up at the Bridge in.
  5. I remember the name - but no face to it. I am 64 in June if that puts her in the same age group. will ask some of my friends with better memories for names than mine.
  6. Anyone remember Mrs Body - the Cookery teacher - she was like a stick insect and about as interesting! My mate Lynne and I had to wallpaper the dining area in the cooking room and we put the wallpaper on upside down - she swore we had done it on purpose - as if !! we did go in the stock room and eat the dried fruit though- oh we were so 'copped' one day by miss Green, we were having a crafty fag in the girls loo and Hillary passed it the wrong way under the partition- guess who to? Yep miss Green - my hand was read for days.

Hi I left in '61, my name (maiden) was Hazel Orio we lived on Hopefield Ave. My friends were(and still are) Mollie Sherwood,Lynne Thorpe, Jeff Clarke,Paul Brammer (David Jackson (Jacko died 13 years ago) Brian Armstrong Tony Randle, Hillary Watson, Josie Harrison. Pete Hides, Rodger Kay, Richard Aldam, Dickie Crookes, Pat and Sue Worrall, Rodger and Keith Worral, we all went to the youth club (The tarren hut on Birly Moor Rd as we knew it) Scout hut to others.Sadly another ouf my dearest friends Terry Conroy died on 4th Dec 2010 and is sadly misses by us all. We all went to 'see him off' in a good old Frecheville way. Anyone know a Mick Nuttall? trying to get a message to him. Thanks.
  8. Oh WOW, just found this site. my grandparents were the very first to move in on Hopefield Ave and my mum and dad lived next door when they got married. I have the Original Site Plan of Frecheville before it was built and it shows the farm house that was used as the community centre when Frecheville was first built. It is now the Chapel on the corner of Churchdale and Hopefield. My maiden name was Orio we lived at no 21. and I was on the pantomimes that you all remember. David Tipper did the lighting and I am still in touch with some of the other girls. Oh happy days, of Carnivals and the Fair that came. I am now 63 and live in Eckington but often go for a walk round the pond, so many memories of my teenage years and who can forget the Rock Club - well a lot of us still meet up.
  9. Anybody out there know Anne Checkley, lived on Manor Lane, worked at Halamshire Steel at Neepsend. Any info would be gratefull, know she had a brother but can't remember her name. she will be 63/64 this year.

  12. You are way younger than me then I am 63. Still in Contact with Jeff Clarke, his siter Joyce and Paul Brammer. Sadly Jacko died nearly 13 years ago - gutted - we went to Nursery together so were like family. Jacko's dad was a Good Policeman - Donaldson was a s...t and was forever trying to get Jacko in trouble. Good memories of Alport though.

  14. Janet Scott lived at 36, She was the cousin of Joe Cocker and his mum owned the wool shop that we used to go up to as an excuse to hear Joe singing in his bedroom 'Aunty Margaret' used to say " just hark at that racket Our Joe is makeing2
  15. Betty Crossland went to that school, lived in Bike shop - Crosslands Bikes on the main road and at bottom of Duncan Rd. She was my mum, sadly no longer with me, but I still have her school leaving report.

  17. Hi, you sound about the same age as my cousin - Chris Orio that lived on Lydgit Lane we spent many happy days sledging down that road trying to stop before hitting the wall at the bottom.
  18. Can not remember date, but will ask Tony Smith who booked them and let you know. I do remember he came on with a Loo seat round his neck and jumping about like a grasshopper! Oh great days. Tony has booked Dave Berry for our 'yearly reunions' at the Embassy on 27th Nov.
  19. Do you remember Crosslands Bike shop on the main road, my grandparents owned it. Still have a photo of the shop. Think it was at the bottom of Duncan Road.
  20. Hi echo beach. I am still in contact with both Linda and Paul. Linda lives in Srewsbury and Paul lives in Derby we all keep in contact after the reunion and all came to my 60th. Laughter and Love to all. Keep Rocking. ps. Jhonny Tempest - Re- John Greaves died in the late 60's of heart attach, he used to come to our house as a family friend. My maiden name was ORIO

  22. Hi, your wife didn't have a sister called Janet and Brother called Brian by any chance and live on Basegreen. As Janet was in My class and we went to her house to hear her brother practice with his 'band' we met up years later. He turned up at Marsh Lane school as the Headmaster! as for Mr Furness!!! He was the reason I did not stay on at school, he had a very mean streak. Miss Green only died last year age 98. Miss Turner was my favourite and also my form teacher. I have some great memories of Frecheville school.
  23. Hi. Long time since I was down on Alport. you must have known the Clarkes, Brammers and Jacksons (police house) They are same age as me 61, but Jeff Clarke had and older brother and sister. Can you remember Donnaldson the copper, god everyone used to try and keep out of his way. my dad was not the barber on Frecheville shops but had a shop in Sheffield, you were nearly right about the barbers it was Walters and they also had the riding stables. Keep safe, keep happy and keep rocking.
