  1. Were any of you electrical apprentices I need to contact one who did his training at Treeton and Dinnington Tec 1980s if possible. Please contact me if you have any information.
  2. Street lighting is the resposibility of Sheffield Council, Streetworks Department not YEDL who are responsible for the supplies to street lighting.
  3. Street lighting where I live, Linley Lane/Youlgreave Road area, has been on for 8 weeks night and day, the council say there is a fault somewhere. Street lighting either works via a photo cell, local lighting, or a timeswitch which operate whole streets, if the electricians can't find the fault in 8 weeks then I can provide electricians who will find the fault in a matter of days or even hours. I hope a council official reads this and can answer my query. If you are a council official looking at this thread then please get a responsible person to read it to you
  4. I am trying to contact any NCB electrical apprentices from 1980 onwards. I would like to know what type of qualifications were gained C & G etc. Any help appreciated.
  5. Recently bought two Linda Barker chairs from DFS when my wife was getting up from the chair her elbow went through the chair armrest, it did not rip the cloth but broke the inner strengthening a fitter came out the next day to repair it and said this was always happening as the strengthening was only 3mm thick cardboard. This week the other chair went the same way it was repaired the next day. These chairs were £300 each and if Linda Barker is letting her name used in the promotion of these chairs then I hope she as a room full of them. Long live Ikea
  6. Honestas Quam Munera the literal Greek meaning Honor Before Honors. Frecheville school houses were Birley red, Hopefield green, Thornebridge yellow, Winfield blue. I was in Birley.
  7. If you are talking late 50s the teacher would be Miss Bridget, she also taught Relegious Education, she came from Cornwall.
  8. Mr. Dyson, Woodwork, Mr. Slater, Science and Mr. Furness, English and he could use a cane. But it did us no harm.
  9. The best English teacher in the education system. No I did not know the Marshalls
  10. Did you attend Frecheville Secondary Modern School in the mid 1950s, if so, what are your memories?
  11. I am looking for an old friend called Alan Marshall, we lost touch when I moved to London in 1983. He lived with his parents at Wincobank, then moved to Brinsworth. He lived on the estate at the rear of the Three Magpies. Alan worked for British Gas in Upwell Street. I think he married in the 80s but can't be sure. He used to play bass guitar so may have been in a band. If you know or have any information about Alan it would be much appreciated. Thanks
  12. Did you work at the Northern General Hospital in th 70s? Looking for a porter by the name of Steve Hall, I think the girl he married was a nurse there. He lived on Crabtree just off Barnsley Road at the time, but came from the Woodthorpe. Any information appreciated. Thanks

  14. I knew a Roger Handley he was in our class at school, his hands were burnt in an accident.
  15. I seem to remember it was a jet belonging to the American Airforce it came down on the land next to the tram track where it crosses Birley Moor Road. I remember it because I had a piece of the wreckage. I was at Frecheville school at the time. It was said the pilot had engine problems and wanted to avoid hitting any houses, I think he died in the crash.
