  1. Take a walk up wolsley rd and abbeydale road, thats what all sheffield will look like, a bit like bangladesh no doubt!
  2. My daughter lived in Dronfield for a few years and found it very snobbish and unfriendly! But everyone to their own, we all have differing opinions on places and thank god for that as it would not be good for us all to be the same!
  3. I agree with ging viking that 'Every area has it's good and bad places'. However, we moved from Gleadless to Killamarsh just over a year ago and love the place. There has been no trouble in that time and if you have kids its well placed for Rother Valley. The people are friendly and its pretty quite where we are.
  4. If you have a car there is a really good one in Nottingham, they also do online shopping. Sweet Success. Unit 7 Gauntley Court, Ward Street, Nottingham NG7 5HD http://www.sweetsuccess.uk.com/shop.asp
  5. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual someone has to be rude about women asking for their rights!! If everyone was paid what they deserve in the first place then bonus payments would not be required!! Looking after children is not the piece of cake you think it is. just because you get your hands dirty does not mean you work harder!!!!!!!!!
  6. Thanks Allen. We used carashine. Did a fantastic job, caravan looks like new. Will be having them once a year from now on.
  7. Is there such a thing as a mobile caravan cleaner (for outside of van)?
  8. Thinking of moving to this area (round Westwell Place/Elmwood Drive/Ladybank Road) Can any one tell me what it is like?
  9. Goon - I was pointing out that in general support staff are forgotten. Most people just think of teachers when it states school staff they forget the hard workers behind the scenes. A bit like hospitals where normally people think of just doctors and nurses. Personally I don't think it is a good thing they stayed open as it puts undue pressure on staff to travel in difficult circumstances. Also parents drop the kids of not knowing if/how/when they will get back to pick them up, especially if both parents have set off for work. Putting even more pressure on staff who have to stay until they get there. I would much rather keep my kids and myself safe in a nice warm home.
  10. In the Star tonight is a story about 2 schools who remained open and the Head Teachers praised the teaching staff and kids for getting in. What about the poor support staff - caretaker who would be up at crack of dawn to clear paths and cleaning staff to make sure school is clean for kids. Teachers may be important in a school, but so to are the support staff, lets not forget that!!! On another note are those head teachers trying for medals in keeping schools open and making staff and kids risk injury in this weather?
  11. Thank you Cigy. I pass near this place on the way to work and did not realise it sold curtain tape.
  12. Hi everyone I want to have a go at making my own curtains, but need the popper toping for fixing them up in caravan. Does anyone know where I can get this from? Thank you:
  13. Thank you everyone for your advice. We may well try to do it ourselves.
  14. Just found this site. We bought our first caravan this year. Compass Omega 420/2. We love it. Trying Rivendale site this weekend. Will have to consider work on floor for next year as it has a bit of delamination. Can anyone recommend where to take it?
  15. Have a problem with delamination of caravan floor. Can anyone recommend a repairer please?
  16. thanks duckweed, but there are pubs that offer rooms for free. i know it is a 60th birthday bash but we are not ones for a quite carvery. we would like to have a 60s disco and dance to our old favourites. the room needs to hold about 75-100 people so I think a carvey is out!
  17. Hi SW89, don't take what Sharp87 says to heart, some people always try to put youngsters down even when they are trying to do something good. I am setting off at 7.30 for J24 is that any help? Where are you setting off from in Sheffield?
  18. Can you recommend a room (preferably free) for a 60th birthday bash. Live south side of sheffield. Thank you
  19. Does anyone know of a good mobile disco that plays all 60's music -such as searchers, swinging blue jeans, tremoloes, gerry and pacemakers etc:
  20. My god, don't you students just moan so much. The hard work is to prepare you for the reality of the profession once you are qualified. 75% of qualified staff have kids but still have to work the shifts. You will still have to continue with studies -mostly in your own time and quite often at your own expense, to fulfill your NMC Prep requirements and/or help you get further in your chosen career. Patients are in hospital 24/7, therefore they need nursing round the clock. True its hard work, true the hours are difficult (for everyone), we all have families, some young, some old but we still want to spend time with them. But stick it out, put your heart in it and you will enjoy the rewards.
  21. Can I suggest that we don't have anymore anti-smoking threads? As this thread proves, most smokers are selfish with a brain the size of a pea! So don't indulge them by giving them a platform to moan and groan on!
  22. have you tried ebay? There is a travel section whith loads of holidays up for grabs including some for Skeggy.
  23. I can honestly say that 10 -15 years ago I would say live and let live. But over the last few years I am becoming very much against the muslim community as we are expected to welcome all their ways of living and for go british celebrations etc for fear of offending them!!!. Only a few years ago we were not allowed to call it a christmas fair or have a christmas tree at my daughters school. Why? because it may offend the muslim community!!! If they don't get their own way - the discrimination card is always played. When my kids were at school they often saw the muslim lads start a fight with white kids, but the teachers would always blame the white kids for fear of being accused of racial discrimination. I feel the government and especially Sheffield council are making the british white person (and not just in Sheffield) very anti muslim by giving in all the time.
  24. So why are there loads of black taxis blocking the road - could be everyone stopping for fish and chips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. My issue is the positive discrimination from the council. The mosque at heely does not have any where near enough parking space for all those who attend - it would be interesting to know if this new one has increased space for all the extra muslims attending. For any white british person requesting a new build it would be a totally different story if adequate parking had not been a part of the new designs! The council say yes to any thing muslims want as they are afraid of the card trick - yep if its not passed they will always shout discrimination.
