  1. Hi everyone, I was wondering whether anyone knew about any decent shops that sell cake decorating supplies (icing, cake boxes, stands etc) for decent prices. At the moment, I'm going to Hobbycraft at Meadowhall Retail Park but I'm finding their prices a little steep. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated :-) Thanks!
  2. This post is hilarious. What you are really implicating is that you believe that you have the right to park across two spaces because you are better than everyone else? Am I right? If not, please enlighten us. Welcome to the real world! There are much, much more pressing issues to consider in life than a few bumps in a car door. These things happen every day, and not just because of someone entering/exiting their car. I assume you drive around with your bumpers wrapped in bubble wrap to prevent stone chips from inconsiderate drivers kicking them up, since you take such pride in your lumps of metal? It is a car for goodness' sake. You estimate that you've spent "a thousand pounds" over the last 18 years due to other people's negligence in a car park. Yes, I'll agree that it's an inconvenience to pay out these things - however, it is part and parcel of owning something that you use often and which is exposed to a myriad of different elements. I've not long since paid out for a new windscreen because of a stone that caused a crack that Gavin from Autoglass sadly couldn't fix. Use as many excuses that you can find, my dear. The bottom line to this is that you are a selfish parker. If others can manage to park in one (yes, ONE) space without acquiring the staggering number of nicks and dents that you imply you have gotten over the years, then I'm afraid so can you. Parking in a bay is, after all, part of learning how to pass your test.
  3. Hectate, you raise a valid point there. People are saying that exams are getting increasingly easier. An interesting point - it must be remembered that whilst actually passing the exam might be easy (a pass at AS or A Level merely requires an E grade) getting the higher grades is a different story altogether.
  4. Thank you Jon26 . They're not all easy - admittedly some are easier than others, depending on what you study. Literature isn't fun when you're trying to remember Shakespeare etc. Plus the majority of us worked really hard for our grades and now we may celebrate!
  5. Good luck to everyone receiving their A-Level results today, and here's hoping you all got what you wanted and deserved. I got an A*, 2 A's and a B and am off to study Law at the University of York I'll miss Sheffield!
  6. I heard it as well, and I'm based in Treeton! Must admit, at that time, my mind was almost completely fogged by sleepiness and was convinced that a nuclear attack like the one on Threads was happening :S I heard it a couple of nights ago as well. Strange..
  7. yeah looking back now it does seem a daft question. Thanks ever so for your helpful and witty reply. And apologies for not knowing everything. Guess I must be killing off more braincells than I thought with the constant drinking/partying every night, as students do. No worries, I'll not bother asking for the help next time.. Ta anyway though
  8. Okay, technically, it is classed as Rotherham, but since there isn't a Rotherham Forum, I'll come here The point concerns a road (Boston Castle Grove) leading up to Thomas Rotherham College. It is a rather narrow road, and can only really fit two cars side by side at a push. Recently (September), there is a continuous single yellow line which has been painted down the side with signs stating that no one can park on the side of the road between 8am and 5pm. This was mainly done to keep the traffic flow steady (it gets very busy around 4pm as this is when the majority of students finish college) and to act as a detriment to stop students parking on the kerb. At first this seemed to work, the road wasn't as congested, however in recent weeks, parents, students and even driving instructors (!) find it acceptable to start parking along the kerb to pick other students up at 4pm. As you can imagine, this causes heavy congestion and takes a long time to get up and down the road since people going up and down are forever having to stop behind the parked cars and give way. Is there anyone I can ring up to resolve this, as it's getting really frustrating, and almost a race to get out of college at 4. Sorry about the long-winded essay. Thanks! x
  9. Yes, it's a means of helping visually impaired people with the film, it happens through headsets only, therefore if you're not in need of the audio description, you can still see the film and it won't be affected in any way.
  10. I've known Francesca and her sister for about 10 years. They are the lovliest girls you could ever, ever hope to meet! She's with the angels now, Rest In Peace Fran, A lot of people are thinking about you now sweetheart. It was just a awful tragic accident that could have happened to anybody.
  11. IS there such a thing? If so, does anyone know where I can find one? I was thinking about having my hair dyed blue/black. However, it's rather a shocking red at the moment, and I don't want to dye it at home and watch my hair either look a complete mess, or watch it fall into the drain (: Thanks!
  12. I read this in the Daily Mail on Saturday... "When three masked men were caught on the roof of an ancient church that had been stripped of lead worth £100,000, villagers felt their prayers had been answered. Police arrived in time to catch the trio - in balaclavas and masks - red-handed. Lead had been taken off and rolled up nearby ready to be taken away. But to the astonishment of residents they only got a caution because officers decided they may just have been admiring the view. After ten thefts of lead in as many months from St Helen's Church in Treeton, South Yorkshire, locals had become so desperate they had even set up their own undercover operation to catch them. However, police let the suspects off because of 'insufficient evidence'. " Admiring the view? Whatever is the world coming to?
  13. I've been thinking about it for a while now. I'm 15, and recently I decided I'd rather like to try writing a little column for a paper. Probably a local paper to start out with. Maybe writing about how teenagers see things through their eyes? I don't know, what do you think eh? x
