  1. Athletics-wise, in England, Alexandra Stadium (Brum) and Olympic Stadium (LDN). Then it should be Sheff, plus more seats than the former. Why`d the other thread get closed?
  2. we`ve been egged a time or two. i just wish they`d chuck us 20ps instead! what a waste!
  3. Why has the other thread closed? They were quite different!!!!!!
  4. Really sorry to hear that. Lots of burglaries all over S8; was it attempted entry?
  5. SFC have / had been looking to move. A delegation visited Woodbourn just over a year ago to look at that but it wasn`t taken up. Previously Olive Grove has been looked at. A return to DVS has never been touted and Club seem relatively happy at Dronny, despite gates that could be higher (200-300). Having Woodbourn as our main outdoor athletics facility should put us on a par with Mansfield, MANY divisions below Leeds (where AR Jess will have to train at). My latest though is IKEA, horsey meatballs `n` all.
  6. Gutted I couldn`t go. Usually see all homes. Hope to get to Women`s game tomorrow. Enjoyed watching 2 x 3-1 wins last weekend for Club Men and Women; # affordable quality!
  7. n`er mind. It could be made into a giant pony enclosure / equestrian centre seeing as they got increased funding recently. a bit of gymkhana (sp?) is just the ticket to keep the youth off the streets and it`s readily accessible financially to average joe. or a MEGA TESCO?
  8. At the risk of sounding predictable, do they have any real ale on?
  9. The current Government expect our heroes to come from the playing fields of Eton and Harrow; that's one of the main reasons that they scrapped School Sports Partnerships but then demand more competition in school P.E.
  10. Agreed. I have first hand dealings with the stadium and its staff. I had long suspected that it was being propped up by Rotherham United and that they were not preparing adequately for losing the Millers. QED.
  11. We `judged` that as being a good un, as the big ABVs go. I`m guessing you had it from keg at that price? Think it was £6.50 a pint at Cross Scythes and certainly preferred it to the Heather Honey 10%
  12. Agree about Red Deer and Henrys plus the latter seems to have too many ales on for them to keep properly. Last time I was in, I took my beer back as it was off but they didn't check or turn the clip. Is the Dev Cat ok now? It seemed to have slipped a lot IMO. They had those orrible Cottage beers on and nothing was right. Also though it was starting to look scruffy with the daft games machine projected onto the wall.
  13. Couple of possibilities:- It could have been a headless chicken; David Hirst lives there. Dates don't match but could've been me at other times; I sometimes run up it and I do do a lot of heavy breathing as a consequence of the gradient.
  14. I'd expected a curry house. My outside bet was a nursery. Shame because it is potentially a lovely coaching Inn.
  15. So,so. Sheffield`s most successful team at the moment won today though - Club Ladies beat Derby County Ladies 3-1 scoring some very tidy goals!
  16. For me, I 'judge' pubs based on beer, pub, service in that order of priority. Harlequin and Shakespeare keep doing well for me on that basis. Cross Scythes and Sheaf View are winners too.
  17. Cheers. I did. It was a belter in a lovely venue.
  18. hmmm. In some ways I like the pub (cosy, layout, artwork, food) but I find the bar staff ignorant. When I`ve been in, they`re usually too busy sat at the bar ****!ng about on facebook and indulging in laddish banter to serve folk. The beer can be ok but I`m not a fan of Blue Bee and Marstons. Hope Closed Shop has better staff.
  19. I know but too much of a good thing . . . #lightweight!
  20. SO often you get this perception if you live close to a school. Pupils do go a bit wappy when the final bell rings and, theoretically, they are the responsibilty of the school whilst in transit. However, if you think that they look a bit of a handful, it is worth realising what a tremendous job teachers do teaching a complex, demanding and ever-changing curriculum to classes of 30+ of the little darlings.
  21. NONE of this has happened and we live VERY close to the last burglary and we have been at home pretty much 24/7. ---------- Post added 24-02-2013 at 22:39 ---------- Two Police cars outside a house on HH early this morning . . .
  22. Sounds good but I`m at Derby Winter festival tomorrow!
  23. Sheffield has a pretty good shout to be the real ale capital of GB. We are spoilt for choice. We can be picky. Personally, I don`t want to go to pubs that aren`t my `cup of tea` so to speak. In this much vaunted time of austerity, we need to be discerning about who to give our hard-earned to. To me, drinking beer that isn`t to my taste repeatedly is a waste of time and cash because I`m not out to get drunk, at least not intentionally. longcol - sounds like a promising start for the CS.
  24. That`s brilliant. Well done. That is a testament to a lot of hard work by the whole team.
