That absence was classed as one but I had 4 other absences which didn't require a sick note I'm just confused as to y a doctors note would be unauthorised

It was last year that I was off due to a miscarriage I was signed off work by the hospital for 5 week, our company policy is that 5 separates sickness and u get a letter of concern for unauthorised absences, well I thought having a sick note would be authorised but my manager says that she has to authorise an absence i.e holiday, lieu day but to me that isn't an absence

I am qualified at level 3 in childcare and work in a nursery where i have been for over for years. i have been babysitting since i was 13.
