  1. It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and so me and my group of friends want to go out for a bite to eat and then have a few drinks afterwards. I'm looking for a bit of inspiration on where we could go. Our usual nights out are places like the Lescar, the Broadfield, Bungalows & Bears, Wick at Both Ends etc, so something along those lines would be good. They'll be approx 15 of us. Any ideas will be appreciated.
  2. Hi the front of our terrace house has been painted all over by a previous owner. It's starting to come off in a few places and looks a real mess. Does anyone know of a company in Sheffield that does paint stripping/power washing who could remove it? I've heard sandblasting can be done but can damage the bricks so would prefer to wash it off if possible. Has anyone removed it themselves just by using a power jet wash with water? Thanks
  3. Hi My dad is coming up on Sunday with my half-sister who is 6. We want to go out for a nice lunch, I want somewhere with good food, but we'll need something to entertain my little sister. Does a place exist? Good food and play area? The weather forecast looks awful on Sunday so somewhere with an outdoor play area is out. Any idea?
  4. I also went to see Russell Brand last night and there was a couple infront of me who insisted in cuddling up all night blocking my view and the girl kept tickling the boys nose - infuriating!
  5. The Yorkshire Crisp Company make these. Sell them in Morrisons
  6. I was on the train this morning on which the driver found the body. It was the 07:51 Sheffield to Leeds train. The train stopped and we had an announcement that the driver had seen something on the edge of the track that he needed to investigate and that we couldn't continue due to safety reasons. We sat there for about 1/2 hr before we continued to Chapletown where we had to wait for another hour for a new driver to be taxied from Sheffield to continue with the journey. The conductor was very calm and professional though, offering his mobile to those who needed to ring work etc, to say they would be late. No-one on the train as far as know saw the body or knew it was there.
  7. It doesn't actually show my number plate either, although there is the printed one underneath, but not sure where they got that image from.
  8. Yes, I was caught on that night, as was a friend who came in our party. £150 from the 2 of us - ouch! Having read this post though I'm definitely not going to pay.
  9. Does anyone know of a cheap, reliable removal service who would be available this Friday to move a 2 bed, ground floor flat from S2 to S8? Just been let down by a company so need to find another one urgently. We are part of a chain so they need to be flexible as we will have to wait for our funds to clear and complete around 1pm. Thanks
  10. You should all be very proud of the work that goes on in the Advanced Manufacturing Park. It is a national centre for excellence for machine tooling, welding and casting technologies with organisations which produce world-class work. There is also a centre to develop and support start-up companies thus encouring new companies into the regions declined manufacturing industry. The AMRC is a collaboration between Boeing and the University of Sheffield who work on high tech projects with companies worldwide. Instead of Sheffield been known for it's declining steel industry, it is now been recognised worldwide as a leading modern manufacturing region. The new turbines are linked to AMRC's new building - the Factory of the Future and the power produced will run the factory. The new EETC building opposite (Energy Environment Technology Centre) will house new companies developing energy/environmental products and will have a power grid which will reduce the electricity demand of the building from the grid. It will also have the capacity to export electricity to the local electrical grid. As per PaulMats post everyone shoudl read this website, it is very interesting: http://www.ampwaverley.com Like someone has mentioned, used in the right environment these wind turbines certainly have their place and we really should be making more of natural resources such as wind power and wave power instead of our current practices.
