  1. It appears that I may have to make our old house PC wireless as we have to move the wireless router (currently hard-wired [ethernet?] to the PC).

Can anyone recommend a product which I could simply plug into a USB port on teh PC to enable the PC to receive wirelessly please.

  2. My 8 year old daughter really wants a pet Corn Snake. She has handled our neighbours very well and has a genuine interest in animals. I would like to ask if anyone with experience can tell me how easy or hard they are to keep, and if there is anything I should look out for or be aware of. Neighbours seems to be very easy to care for. Many thanks in advance.

  3. I have been with Green Flag for about 4 years and had to call them out twice. Could not fault them on either occasion, including a tow home from Junction 29 on the M1 at 10.00pm.

Wife is with the AA (as the cover was included with her car purchase) ; she has had them out twice and had no problems once they actually arrived but they were not the quickest in getting out to her / us.

  4. We pay £2200 (gulp) but its a 12 month site and we can leave the awnings (one on each side of the van) up all year round. As we use it for maybe 40 weekends and 8 weeks of the year, we don't think its too bad value.

We decided on it coz :-

    - Storage £400

    - A pitch for 4 people for 2 nights can cost £50 easy, add £25 fuel per weekend too. 20 weekends away = £1500

    - 4 weeks annual holidays @ £25.00 per night = £600, plus £200 fuel costs

Best thing we ever did. Turn up on a Friday evening, fridge is full of cold beer :P, nothing to set up, straight to relax time. Generally we don't leave to come home till Sunday evening too.

  5. About 6 weeks ago I turned the taps on in the caravan to wash some dishes. Then a friend of ours was passing and stopped to say hello so I went outside to talk to them. Suddenly there's a scream from my wife who had gone into the caravan from the awning.

The water comes out of the taps at about 8 litres per minute ; the sink drains at about 4 litres per minute. I had been outside for about 4 or 5 minutes. Lets just say that the floor was a tadge damp !!!

Took us 2 days of heaters to dry it out properly

  6. I have always been a big fan of his until we went to see him at Manchester Arena a couple of years ago. He was really, really poor, sounded like an old man coughing, spluttering and wheezing. He only sang about half of each of his songs, pointing the microphone at the crowd as much as at his own mouth !! The worst performance I have ever seen sadly. Still listen to his CDs though.....

  7. As a slight detour, but I've always wondered about the legality of people parking on double yellow lines with a "disabled" badge in the windscreen.

A good friend of mine, sadly no longer with us, was badly injured in a car accident in his 30s, and had to spend the rest of his shortened life in a wheelchair. He led me to believe that the cause of the accident was somebody parking dangerously on double yellow lines.

I can still hear him now moaning at the "idiots" who park on double yellows, and even having a go at the genuinely disabled who parked on them. "It's either dangerous or it isn't", he would say, "and if it's dangerous nobody should park there, irrespective of if you're disabled, unloading or whatever".

No doubt he would blow a gasket if he was still around, with the amount of folk pretending to be disabled or thinking that those magic flashing amber lights makes it okay. But I've often thought about his words, and the legality of parking on double yellows with a disabled badge.

The legality I believe is that it is allowed for a blue badge holder to park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours in England and Wales, and unlimited in Scotland.

  8. Is it worth the hassle of potentially having to attend a court hearing to prove the yellow lines are not enforceable, even if you win?

It wouldn't be to me, but you'll have to make your own judgment.

If it saves paying for parking for a week or 2, then it probably is - 10 days at £5 per day = £50 saved if you normally have to pay.

Besides parking is decriminalised in the UK and it would not go to court. Even if it got as far as PATAS (Parking and Traffic Appeals Service) it would not cost you anything apart from a little bit of time and a couple of postage stamps.

Suggest the OP has a look at http://www.pepipoo.com

  9. I could be wrong but I thought that once someone died, all their accounts were supposed to be frozen. It is then down to the executor of the will (or the administrator if no will is left) to collect together the assets, and then settle all debts of the deceased from the assets, distributing anything that is left over according to the will or intestacy laws. I would be extremely surprised if HSBC were legally allowed to do what you have suggested they are trying to do.

Afterthought : I wonder if they can somehow aggregate the accounts together ? eg £100 on deposit but £25.00 owing on credit card so here is £75

  10. As I understand things

It may be illegal if the area is classed as a special enforcement area. The relevant statutes are Section 86 (1) and (9) of the Traffic Management Act 2004 coupled with Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 naming the area as a "special enforcement area" (see Section 84 of the Traffic Management Act 2004 for a definition). I believe that Sheffield Council operates Decriminalised Parking Enforcement meaning that it is their responsibility to enforce On Street Parking (as opposed to the police). It may well be worth a call to the Council and ask them what their view is. I suppose you could always make a Freedom of Information request on the council asking for a list of all their Special Enforcement areas.

    Clear as mud eh ?????
