  1. Also bear in mind The Vine Tavern Lease is for sale so you then have no idea what may or may not change !!!
  2. Really enjoyable read and always good to hear another persons opinion. I won't tell the lady at The Vine that the girl at The George was cuter though. I will speak in Adrians defense (at The Vine)...He really does never stop !! ... I'm sorry he didn't take time out to be pleasant. I'm glad you liked the magic toilet lights and appreciated just how good our bar staff really are. We do. You may be pleased to know that the chap at The Royal has now gone but unfortunately it's now Adrain from the Vine...Haha... Really ! Mosborough does have some really nice pubs and it's a pity you didn't make it up to The Alma. Especially if the weather was good. None of us can beat their beer garden with it's fantastic views. Have to start there next time and work your way back.
  3. .... Also how many Taxi drivers insist on pipping their horns when there is absolutely no possibilty of anyone inside the pub hearing them but all of the neighbours will !!
  4. I actually run the Vine and have been here now for just over 5 years. Obviously I'm biased but personally I think it's a wonderful little village pub. I have lived in Mosborough village all of my life and when my children were younger we lived behind where the Royal Oak beer garden is. During the summer months even at that distance I could hear the people in the Royal Oak ca rpark having a good time. What you need to remember is that when people are having a good time they do tend to get loud. Even a group of people having a good natter in the car park can seem quite annoying when you're just sat chilling on your own back garden. When there are several groups of people all having conversations outside the pub on a summer evening that can them seem extremely noisy and unfortunately the vocabulary can also be a little off colour. Personally I would never consider buying a house so close to a pub unless I intended to be part of the party going on there. Other things to consider are how many octaves the average female voice rises after four halves of lager. How many taxis will come and go on an average friday night and how many people forget to book a taxi early and end up standing around in the street after midnight having a "chat" til the taxi arrives. I would think very carefully before parting with my money !....Oh I'm also the mug that's reopened The Royal !......Simon! Hahaha x
  5. Norwich Street did run from Granville Street, across South Street and over to Duke Street. I have a map if you're still interested. I can email it if you want a copy.
  6. Not made one for years but I always used to make mine in september. When it'd properly cooled I'd stick it in a tin and pour a tablespoon of brandy over it. Every week I'd take it out, turn it over and pour another table spoon of brandy over it. By the time its ready for icing you cant take the lid off without getting drunk from the vapours !!! Made me want to make one now !
  7. I found our Face Painter ...... her number is 07941 373180 ..... She lives in mosborough area and she is fantastic !!!!
  8. Original line up. Just no Paul Heaton. I'm told they're just as good without him.
  9. No I'm sure they're not bothered. They just want to fish. They've not run a team from here before and our old team have packed in. (Cos They were all "knocking on a bit" bless em). Yep it's The Vine @ Mosborough
  10. We have a few exceptional fishermen who are regulars and want to form a new fishing club but nobody seems keen to fish with/against them. Purely Because They're Good !! We need keen anglers who are fairly local who would like to join 'The Vine Tavern Anglers'. If you're keen to compete, or just don't mind being beaten send me your contact details in a private message and we'll be in touch asap. anglers fishing fishermen
  11. Cheers for that KC21. Nice to know we're doing something right. Really appreciate your comment.
  12. Dj Phil Wilson with Karaoke and special drinks offers every wednesday at The Vine Tavern, School Street, Mosborough.
  13. I can't find the number for the lady that did the Face Painting at The Vine Tavern in Mosborough last August Bank Holiday and I really want to book her for the same event this year. If you know who it was please let me know. Cheers.
  14. We've just started back up with the golf society at The Vine and we have all the original trophies here dating back to 1978.
  15. Thats the problem with The Vine, it's kinda well hidden!
  16. Cheers Simon. Just found this post and thought "Gotta put this right !!"
  17. Awww it is nice now though Alex. I'm assuming you know The Vine. It turned into a bit of a hole in the ground, dark and mucky and threadbare carpets and furniture but it's sorta back to how it used to be all those years ago when I used to go out drinkin round mosborough. Atmospheres a lot more chilled.
  18. The Vine Tavern @ Mosborough is great now !! Maybe I'm a little bit swayed by the fact that we run it !! lol
  19. Does anyone remember James (Jimmy) Wilson? Apparently he performed at the Mucky Duck but Im not sure whether he was a solo artist or if he was in a band.
  20. I remember Stevie Splash! I also remember the farce there was trying to get Millionaires opened too, after it was converted from a bed shop or sumthing. And can anyone remember having to buy a tray of curry or chilli to get into Charlie Parkers on a Sunday night just so they could get round the licencing laws to stay open late sunday. (I think that was why they did it anyway!?!?). Spent many a night in Sinatra's and was quite good friends with Shane until Jean found out!!.... (The management)... lol Wonder if they're still an item? Oh those times were fun!!
  21. Attempting to find James (or Jimmy) and Lynette Wilson or any of their family members. They would both now be in their sixties. They apparently left Sheffield for a few years in the mid sixties to live in Jersey, where James had found work. (Possibly as an entertainer/singer?) Further imformation that we have is that they possibly managed the Fishponds pub in matlock in the late 70's/early 80's but this has not been confirmed. Any help would be appreciated.
