  1. tried that - outside on the front the day it was to be delivered and the postie handed me a letter I asked where was the redelivered parcel - he looked blanked then had a moment of inspiration and said oh its in the van in the other bag ???? it will be here in about an hour ……. yes he delivered it on his way back to Woodseats road - but surely he should have had it in the bag he was delivering from as it was a very small box. spent many an hour waiting down at the sorting office but the men there are always polite and friendly. If you speak to them as if they are human they do respond, they are always nice to me.
  2. Whitbread the top bod receives £234,000 a year not counting expenses :mad and she is one of 20 employees who receive over £100,000. plus of course their expenses....not counting all those just below them on the rungs of the ladder all being paid from the money they receive from people who are probably counting coppers to live but who feel so sorry for those little kids with the big eyes they see on the telly.
  3. QUOTE -the drug users that steal to sell are just as ignorant as the people who condemn them Ignorance - Lack of knowledge or information I do not lack knowledge of thieving drug addicts Thieving drug addicts do not lack knowledge They are very clever, cunning and full of guile They know the best shops to steal from They know the best times to steal They know the best pubs to sell their stolen goods When you work in a shop, enjoy your work and love meeting your customers you cannot stand by and see some scumbag walking out with his coat extended with packets of bacon and packs of cheese or another with a bag bulging with coffee chicken and meat, so you go up and demand the goods back. Sometimes you are lucky and get the goods back sometimes you get a black eye, kicked, or thumped most rely on brute strength but some bring a hammer or knife or as in the case of one young woman she had a dirty syringe stuck in her arm and told '' here have a dose of AIDS'' -suffering months of worry having tests and waiting for the all clear. They are onto a good thing Don't have to work, council flat, benefits nip to the local shops top up the cash ready for the little blue van coming round with the days supply.
  4. had one customer come in and say 'did you know --- --- is going door to door selling your chicken fillets, bacon and cheese - we missed him that time. They would even go in the local pub and if the drinkers wanted coffee or cheese they would come back and pinch to order. Not one of them were starving.....they steal to sell. Wonder if those supporting the thieves have ever had their shins kicked in by one of these starving shoplifters.............. believe me on the shin takes some healing. oh and that's another sore point - there is no such thing as shoplifting it is plain stealing and puts the price up for the decent law abiding shoppers.
  5. Agree with every word. anyone remember visiting the craft shop on Chapel Walk, think it was Whiteheads and going down the winding stairs to the basement? I used to be scared stiff.
  6. that's a shame hope they are enforceable - I saw one being put on a nice bright yellow sports car which was parked in the disabled [ no blue badge displayed] bay.
  7. trying to understand what the poster means. Is he saying the Roma should have been housed on a road with only Black people or maybe just White people or maybe Chinese people . Is there some reason Pakistanis have to be discriminated against and are not allowed to have new neighbours, perhaps he is wanting some sort of ghetto just for them.
  8. or when you turn 70, I manage to arrange goods on conveyor belt - heavy at front light at back. As assistant moves item through scanner I grab and drop in trolley, have cash in hand or card depending on how I'm going to pay - then simply pay and move away to the counter and then I can pack at leisure Time is more important as you get older [less to come] so don't want to spend it in a shop. Usually go to the one at Attercliffe and have never had a miserable member of staff yet - I always smile and get one back, a smile that is
  9. Well that's good, Next time I go I wont mind ordering something with 'chips'
  10. Bear with me first time poster and definitely not related in any way to the British Oak Have seen comments in the forum about the Broadfield and it sounded OK but a bit iffy to get there so when I read about the British Oak it sounded a perfect chance to try the food from the Broadfield Ale House Sorry cant help with the beer stocked as I know nothing about beer but the coffee is pretty good. The place is nice and clean and the young lady who served us was lovely. We tried the steak and mushroom pie. I think it was £7.50 so not overpriced Great pastry - crisp and didn't have a soggy bottom. it came with mushy peas not a favourite but they were OK. The 'chips' were dire - to me a chip is golden with a crisp outer and soft inner. These were more like thin wedges and not sure if cooked in oven but they were definitely cooked, recooked and then probably warmed up so they had that funny oily taste and they were brown, I hate brown chips. The desserts are- oh having difficulty finding a word they are scrummy, delicious tasty and best of all beautifully presented. Will go again but will look for something without chips,
