  1. I grew up on Birley and Hackenthorpe, all my family live on Hackenthorpe now but I've moved to Barnsley. I used to be the Assistant Manager for GT News on Hackenthorpe shops back in 2001 when I was 18.
  2. They've arrested 2 people and I'll guess it was gang or drug related being a targeted attack. What ever happened to a good old punch up to sort out your differences?
  3. Yep used both for Tenerife last August, no problems.
  4. Always one.............blah blah blah I remember back in the 90's blah blah blah.
  5. It's a long walk down to Parkway from Fairleigh and more so IF you've been shot in neck. Unless it was a BB gun? Who knows, they're not even sure if there was a shooting but I'm sure we'll find out.
  6. Report from The Star: Police are investigating an apparent firearms incident in part of Sheffield. Police are investigating an apparent firearms incident in part of Sheffield. Roads have been blocked off and a cordon is in place at Fairleigh roundabout, near Wulfric Road, following a call-out at around 12.15pm today. The Star understands there was a shooting in the area at around 12.15pm today, but South Yorkshire Police have yet to confirm reports. One business owner in nearby City Road, who did not wish to be named, said: “We heard that someone had shot at a car down there.” CCTV from Premier newsagent in Fairleigh has been examined by police. Shop owner Harbhajam Singh said: “I didn’t come in until later in the afternoon but the police were all over. They came in and asked if I had CCTV and gave I gave it them to look at. All of the customers were coming in asking what had happened.” That's a maybe there was? Maybe there wasn't?
  7. I've started doing cross country/downhill biking for last 18mths, started out as a bit of fitness for when I do motorcycle track days but got to say I'm really getting into it! I started out doing laps around Rother Valley, then down to Poolsbrook Country Park, Penine Trail from Rotherham to Barnsley and this past 8mths I now go into Peak District around Derwent and Ladybower, up and down the hills to Hagg Farm and Winn Hill. Just building myself up to Jacobs ladder! I tend to go out on my own due to only having midweek days off but sometimes meet up with a couple others. You'll get to know people as you get out especially in Peak District. I was looking at joining a group but just tend to go out and find trails myself. Every 4th Sunday morning I have off your welcome to come along but we do meet up at Derwent for 9am.
  8. Can't believe it, just read about it in The Star and it was within 24hrs of the one in Frechville!
  9. I'm ex Birley/Frechville/Hackenthorpe lad too and again used to be a great place to live. Seems to be more and more gun and drugs crime on Sheffield streets no matter where you live.
  10. This will be great for Sheffield in so many ways, if SCC reject the plans it shows they really don't want to move the city forward. It certainly can't be bad for the city!
  11. Tyre manufacturers recommend you don't repair run flat tyres especially when you've ran the tyre low/no tyre pressure as it breaks down the tyre wall. A run flat tyre can be used normally up to 90miles at no more than 50mph, this is the case with BMW/MINI as I work for them. Don't have 2 run flats and 2 non either, change them all to one or the other just make sure you have an inflation kit or spare if running non.
  12. There's a new range opened in Rotherham near the Citroen dealership. Think it's on an industrial estate but there are signs from the roundabout if you approach from the road that goes past Magna. You can even hire rifles out there if you just want to give it a go first. I go to one in Mapplewell, Barnsley.
  13. You could keep popping up and having a drive around at different times, might help to give an idea on what the area is like. Handsworth in general is pretty decent, got quite a few friends who live around there and are happy enough. I'm sure some people on here that up at Whirlow and Dore will tell you it's a horrible place and don't live there lol.
