  1. Hi! Helping Yorkshire Poundies have an absolutely lovely cross breed boy called Tigger who's currently in foster needing a forever home! He's not a spaniel type but is leggy and would love to go for miles - his foster mum thinks he'd be great at flyball or agility This is what his foster mum has to say about him: Tigger is currently staying with my family (including 2 dogs and 2 kids age 2 and 4). He is absolutely lovely. Great with people and other dogs. All he wants to do is play then have a quick snooze. He is still very puppy like and is responding well to training. Tigger would be a great a companion to another dog who wants to play as much as he does. He would also be good at flyball or agility as he knows how to fetch and return a ball. Tigger loves to spend time with people and would be a very loyal companion. He gives great cuddles too! You can see pics of him on Helping Yorkshire Poundies Facebook page, on ineedahome (we keep our page very up to date!) or email [email protected] for more info on him x
  2. Thanks Evei - that sounds great if you don't mind. I can start it up again and hopefully we can get out in the sun this summer If you could let me know how I can change it to take over the page as it's a closed group at the moment that would be great. Thanks Curls
  3. Hi there anymore walks plannned? Seems like there are at least two threads with the same idea - Shall I start a Facebook Group or a new thread so that everyone who's interested in Group dog walking can co-ordinate?>
  4. Hi - just stumbled upon this as was looking for something similar myself. I have looked around and found similar to you - Sheffield Dog Walking Groups page hasn't been updated and a link to a Facebook group doesn't turn anything up. LETS START ONE?!?! Who's in? We could have a Facebook page and start that way? If people are interested I could start the Facebook page and we could go from there? xx
  5. I think I'm going to the pound tomorrow so I can pick them up from you froger? Could you pm me your address and when would be best to come get them? Anyone else on here that I could collect from whilst I'm doing the trip? x
  6. Just to tag along - more in the Walkley area. Been looking to start a similar thing. Anyone from Ruskin Park/possibly Ponderosa interested? Also if dogs need letting out if owners ae at work, house/dog sitting of an evening, quick potter round the block etc might be useful as we all live so near one another
  7. Hi all - We get exactly the same when walking our staffy cross - "Watch out love that one'll bit you, he'll turn one day" and all of the above etc seems like on a daily basis. Just wanted to say there is a 4 page spread on March 2013 'Dogs Today' on just this called 'Rotties: Devil dogs or angels - Do you judge a dog by its breed'. An interesting read with owners experiences, history of the breed, where the reputation has come from etc.
  8. Hi all, Just an update on Fizz. Phoned Mount Pleasant Kennels on Friday and they said she had gone to a new home :)
  9. Hi angel How strange - Russell started with this a couple of weeks ago when he was relaxing on the sofa having a head massage. We panicked and phoned our vets as it happened a number of times in the same night. The vet had a look at him the next day and he had wax/possible ear mites/possible infection which we were prescribed drops for. He had blood tests and everything was fine. We had a course of antibiotic ear drops and all is fine now. We're making sure we clean his ears regularly to stop it happening again. The vet mentioned it may be a very mild form of epilepsy that they get when they're young if it starts to happen on a regular basis, but more likely to be ear infection/ear mites with white dogs. We took am iphone video of it happening which the vet found quite useful. Don't panic - I know it looks horrible like they have parkinsons but it sounds exactly the same as what Russell had - don't worry but possibly take her to the vets to get her ears looked at.
  10. I've been checking in on the ineedahome website to see if Fizz has been taken off for ages now - Can't believe she's still waiting I can't offer her a home but would love to help her out in some way - any ideas?! I'd be willing to take her to a rescue space (I have a car and crate) somewhere if I could find one but where to start as rescues are so full?! She's really pulling at my heart strings!!
  11. Hi Liza - I adopted my dog Russ from Sheffield Dog Rescue last year having walked him for a few months before, the adoption fee was halved as I had been a dog walker for them, which worked out great as I had really got to know him and how he was in my house, out on walks, in the car etc before adopting. I'm not sure if that's the formal adoption procedure there but just thought it might be something you would be interested in especially if you're in no rush. I know they have Tyson and older staffy there who's been in for a long time now, he has found himself in rescue as his owner unfortunately died so I'm sure they have lots of background info on him - he is currently 'dog of the month' on their website here: http://www.sheffield-dog-rescue.org.uk/ Also, there's Ruby who I think is being rehomed via SDR, but her owners have set up a website to try and help rehome her - lots of information about her and she sounds lovely: http://ruby2009.shutterfly.com/ Good luck with your search!
  12. I've just dug out Russell's adoption papers and found their number there, there's 2 numbers listed : 0114 2351005 and 01142550469. One of those should get you somewhere Good luck!
  13. Ah brilliant - they're really friendly down there and you can go on lovely walks with the dogs as they back onto lots of fields so you can get to know the dogs a little better! Just give them a call or pop in, think they're open til 3pm in the winter, or possibly 5? I got my rescue dog from there last year and he's great Sophie looks a cutie - she looks like she'd love a nice warm sofa to cosy up on bless her!
  14. Hi there - not sure if this would suit you or not but I've just seen on the Sheffield Dog Rescue website (http://www.sheffield-dog-rescue.org.uk) a lovely looking dog called Ruby who's looking for a new home and says she is good with cats, too. There's also a link to her current owners website set up (i think) to rehome her : http://ruby2009.shutterfly.com/ She might be a bit too young for what you were looking for but just thought I'd mention. There's a couple more older boys there too...little Alfie the JRT and Tyson the staffy (not sure if staffys are your thing, but he's meant to be a lovely boy and v handsome and has been waiting a long time for a home now). Good luck with your search!
  15. Hi there - Maybe if you gave an answer to peoples questions as to why you didn't want a rescue you wouldn't feel people are judging you as they would be more informed as to your situation? I personally am quite interested into why people wouldn't want a rescue kitten. The way I see it, a kitten is a kitten, rescue or not. The only difference to me is that if I were to get a rescue kitten (which I have), I would have peace of mind that it had been fully checked over and that it works out actually cheaper when neutering/vaccinations/worming/fleaing are factored in and of course that the money given for that particular kitten would be going to a really worthy cause and directly helping other cats/kittens in need (of which there are sadly so many). So to me, getting a rescue kitten (or cat - or any animal!) is win win and I would be interested in why you have opted against this. Please don't take this as a 'judgemental' reply to you, it's in no way intended to be.
