  1. Has this opened up yet? The last time I went past the building there was scaffolding and a big banner saying 'retail unit to let - half let to Tesco' or something along those lines...
  2. i'm guessing (and sincerely hoping) that they are just waiting until the market, Poundland and Iceland open up over the next week or so. Then, hopefully, because there'll be nothing else left to do, work will continue on demolishing the middle block on The Moor. It's possible that it could all open in 2015 but they are probably giving themselves leeway. Personally, I think I'm more interested to hear who the apparent cinema company and the clothing retailer will be.
  3. ‘Advanced discussions’ are taking place with a ‘quality cinema operator’ and another fashion retailer for sites on The Moor. The cinema operator is set to move into the new building to be created below Debenhams once demolition work is completed. It will also include numerous restaurants along with a relocated Primark store. The restaurants and cinema will be expected to open in 2016 after Primark opens in 2015. Kerri Hunter, deputy fund manager at Scottish Widows, which manages The Moor, said: “The Moor development will revitalise Sheffield city centre. “We are working towards creating an area that provides a quality retail and leisure environment as well as an evening economy, which will increase dwell time and so extend shopping hours. “Improved retail facilities will boost the potential for both day and evening custom – and encourage more offices and residential accommodation to be built. “The Moor represents the first opportunity for many years to secure retail and leisure units accommodating modern requirements.” Recent openings on The Moor include TJ Hughes, while a new Iceland and Poundland are being fitted out.
  4. When I was coming home earlier (I live just off the top of Richards Road), I'm pretty sure I heard the bells. This was around 10.45pm so the city would have been relatively quiet. I'm just wondering - Is it possible that it would have been the bells? Also, where's the furthest away from them that anyone's ever heard them from?
  5. I think it would be effective if, like some stations on the Jubilee line on the LU, glass window fences were placed at the platforms. This would make it almost impossible to get onto the track at stations. But, like everything else, cost is the main factor against it.
  6. It's only too predictable that such an incident would have occurred. Ever since the road was changed from being a junction to one way, so many drivers have been performing illegal u-turns. Coming home tonight, I used the crossing outside Virgin Money but a taxi drove straight through a red light just as I was about to cross - he also did an illegal u-turn immediately before. One day, a pedestrian will be run down because of this.
  7. I, probably along with many others, think that it'd be great if SWIP were to build the NRQ. They've done great things to The Moor and the first phase of construction hasn't even been completed yet.
  8. So all the time when people ask bus drivers why they were late, the answer is ALWAYS 'there was traffic'. One word - bullsh*t. I can't think of an instance when a tram has ever been late. This is one thing that really grinds my gears - the tram doesn't go near my house or any other part of south/ south west Sheffield (other than Herdings, etc.) This is off topic but also - Why are bus drivers so rude? Very rarely do I hear a 'thank you' in reply to mine or any other kind words. Sure, it's a stressful job, just playing a real life driving game.
  9. ¿Qué significas cuando dices 'latinos'? Jejeje.
  10. I was just thinking to myself, what will happen when HS2 opens a link to Meadowhall? Is it at all likely that North Sheffield will become a new town, or city, with a large CBD consisting of retail (Meadowhall) and maybe new office space? Would this mean that they become even more separated and the south of the city becoming a new town due to separation from the north of the city? If this was ever to be at all the case, would Sheffield City Centre just become the centre of the south of the city with the area surrounding Meadowhall becoming a centre of the north?
  11. Thanks sufc babe, my mum's just ringing them up now to enquire about costs
  12. So as today is my 17th birthday, I thought it would be a good idea to start thinking about where to have my 18th birthday party. I don't really mind where in the city but I live in Heeley so preferably either in Heeley or in the city centre. I'm predicting I'd have around 100 people coming (family and friends) so I would require quite a large function hall. Thanks for your assistance
  13. Thanks Is there anywhere where I can read up about this online?
  14. I noticed on the bus to school this morning that something is being built next to Boots at Heeley Retail Park - Does anyone have any idea what this is going to be?
