  1. Would recommend sticking a key in and scooping out. Works every time
  2. Taught myself. Learn the chords, play a few tunes with what you know, then go from there. I use http://www.ultimate-guitar.com for music, I think they have some self-instruction things on there somewhere to help out.
  3. Sheffield Futures or Prospects - next to Connexions in town. If you have one to hand already you can just drop in, they'll tweak it for you. Failing that, your local JCP should be able to point you in the right direction.
  4. Knife-weilding, fake-Burberry fanboys and mugging people in toilets does not a diverse city make. Static will reopen soon - you can see men working on it - and the others will likely follow in a couple of years. If you can't wait that long, get a one way ticket to a field in Attercliffe. Post your PR campaign there.
  5. Admin: http://www.reed.co.uk, http://www.gumtree.com, http://www.mysheffieldjobs.co.uk, and http://www.jobsite.co.uk. Used to work at Jobcentre Hillsborough (I know I'm gonna get flak for that ) and personal experience, even I wouldn't recommend http://www.direct.gov.uk. It's the most used form of looking for work, so going with specialised sites usually gives you an advantage, and also using the skills you have to their fullest is important. Remember that unfortunately a lot more people are going to have to find work who may not have worked in 10 years, or at all. They're going to be going for the entry level jobs, so aim a little higher to give yourself more of a fighting chance. As for agencies, at the Jobcentre a lot people found admin work, and I'd say 9 times out of 10 they either found it through Blue Arrow or Office Angels. Warehouse / Industrial: Most people found work through The Best Connection. While I was working at the Jobcentre, I told people to remember one thing; "When everyone else is looking left, you look right."
  6. Not classing Niche as a form of music is not uninformed, it is personal opinion. My point was that there isn't a complete lack of nightlife everywhere except bassline clubs. True, they get more punters if they do play bassline music as it does draw a wide and diverse crowd. But the topic was about 'whether Sheffield nightlife is dead', and just because 3 clubs have closed, I don't think it has.
  7. Just keep the DJ booth bit, stick Mark 'Bez' Berry in there and have his dancing projected onto a 16ft high screen, and call it "Getting B------s'd with Bez". That... I would pay to see.
  8. If that was your job, would you really need to be praised for it? And yes, there are as many reasons for being late as there are cars on the road. But I've been catching buses for years now, and can count on one hand the amount of times it has actually turned up on time. There will be as many people on here that will agree with me as those who don't judging by previous threads, but this is going off-topic so I'll admit that saying all bus drivers are miserable was probably a harsh comment to make. I'll correct it to make it factual. Every bus driver I have ever met has been miserable.
  9. They don't help their reputation when they're so bloody miserable though. What happened to service with a smile? They get crapped on because they're always late - undeniable.
  10. It's not exaggeration, its just preparation lol
  11. Wow, nice brazen attack on men there. Now hold your horses. Technically it's your fault for making him sleep there, and if he's looking after the poor child, you aren't getting on with it at all, are you?
  12. Are some people still trying to deny the existence of man-flu? Studies have shown that women have stronger immune systems, and that men get things worse, so: Women's cold = Man-flu Women's flu = Man is technically dead Co-incedentally, each can be cured by not moving from bed, copious amounts of chicken soup and toast, sleep and Playstation!
  13. All our thoughts should go to the young lad's family, as do mine. Incidents such as that should always be frowned upon, no matter where they happen. But frankly because of its bad press the regulars of places like Niche and Westways are not classed as 'clientele'. The vast majority are found to be 'pond life'. Personally, I'm not a fan and don't consider Niche a form of music. Anyway, that Static place is supposed to be reopening soon, so the people get one more club back - no idea what music they might play though.
