Cross stitch is my main hobby then knitting. But I've tried card making, encaustic art, stamping latch hook rug making and I'm sure there's something else!

I've done cross-stitch for many years as well as knitting, I'm kind of learning to crochet but don't appear to have much natural talent for it!

I knit and embroider (machine and by hand). I also do a fair bit of beadwork. I used to do loads of cross stitch, though not so much of late. I'd really like to get back into pottery too.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I do crochet too, though I'm not very good at it at the moment.

I cross stitch, and I like blackwork too. I want to learn to crochet, as it seems to pair well with knitting, and I love Cross stitch, but knitting is my love at the moment.

I like blackwork too. I love the intricacies of the designs. There's an excellent resource here (http://www.blackworkarchives.com/), which has some information about blackwork on Elizabethan costume, as well as more general info about the patterns,

I've been an avid cross stitcher for abt 14 yrs...I lurve large intricate designs.

I usually only knit when a baby is around, and as my younger child is now 3, and none of my kith n kin are expecting, the needles are in storage.

I have been known to 'crochet' the odd shawl...I use crochet in the loosest term, as I kinda taught myself...but it works ok lol

What designs do you do? I'm a fan of some of the Told in a Garden patterns (though some are a bit too cheesy for me), the map designs (I can't remember the designer now, but the ones I mean are the county and country designs which have an outline plus lots of little pictures of key features of that country/county) and also the Heritage/V&A designs.

Haven't done much cross stitch for a while, but after seeing Turra21's Art Neuveau-style geranium design, I really fancy taking up the needle again.

Wow, they are intricate! They must take you absolutely ages to do.

Have you seen the Mirabilia (http://www.mirabilia.com/crossIndex2.html) designs? That style is generally not really me, but I do like the mermaid patterns. The use of beads and blended threads is lovely too.

Thanx, this size would generally take about 3 or 4 months I reckon, but I'm a SAHM, so I have a bit more time than most.
I've not done a Mirabilia design, but I do have a cpl of their charts in my stash (cherubs).
I've done some work with beads, but its a killa on the eyes lol

Hi Jules
you have some great pix, do u work on evenweave?

jules13
14-08-2006, 10:34
Hi
Yes, I prefer evenweave to aida! Although i'm struggling with evenweave at the minute cos i've got a problem with my eye. Saying that, i've not done any stitching for about 6 weeks

Hayley1
15-08-2006, 07:54
I've not done many things on fabrics other than aida, but I do intend on giving it a go...if I ever get through the mountain that is my to do list lol

Knitting, trying to learn crochet, clothes making on the sewing machine to a point, tried card making, that rug making with the little bits of wool, cross stitch and embroidery, which i was better at when i was a kid, and i have made cakes shaped like tanks and trains with Mr Radish. I enjoyed making jewellry, but now Jencel has gone i wouldn't know where to go to get the stuff to do it. I always return to knitting though, that's my baby. Would love to learn to spin my own yarn and learn to weave.

Hi

I'm mainly into papercrafting - making cards, boxes, tags etc. but then in my spare time (who am I kidding :hihi:) I also do some knitting and cross stitch.
