Andy
If it makes you feel any better (it probably won't), we have the exact same rule in Hertfordshire. Only plastic bottles (including things like shampoo bottles) are accepted in the recycling collections. However at the supermarkets the recycling bin accepts all types of plastic. Veolia must manually sort the recycling collections anyway, as different plastic bottles have different numbers, so would surely need to be separated. So if they're sorting the bottles by type, how much more difficult would it be to also sort the margarine tubs, fruit trays etc?
lindylou53
I take all my plastic - containers, cartons, bottles etc to plastic bank at supermarket when I go shopping so no sorting needed and also kill two birds with one stone. I just use blue bin for glass where it's straightforward. Sorted!
Dizzyblonde
I feel like a real numpty reading this. From the beginning I've always put anything remotely plastic or metal in the blue recycling bin. plant pots, punnets and metal trays. Its always been emptied
Jon26
Does anyone know if old biscuit tins can be put in the blue box or bin for recycling? Thanks
Irene S
I know they are for paper and cardboard, but am I allowed/supposed to put that shiny packaging in that you find on some foods..ie like the cartons fruit juice comes in! Gpod point - not sure about juice cartons. I don't put them in but now I can't think why not!
