"Haunted Hospital" nr High Green

It has been a house for a few years now....

 

I find that bizarre Who on earth would want to live in a building that used to be an isolation hospital? I can't imagine the vibes would be at all pleasant....

When i was younger a lot of the older kids who lived at High Green used to go into the woods at Grenoside and walk up to a "Haunted Hospital". i am wondering if any one has been and what it was like.

 

i come from high green and we used to go to the old hospital i was only about 7 and my sisters were teenagers they said that it was a old mental hospital and that it was haunted i used to have nightmares about it.

This hospital was also kept in readiness for any civil disaster that may have occured.

It's on the main road from Grenoside to the Birdwell (M1) roundabout. On the left, quite near to the junction of Hallwood Road, I may be wrong here (and don't hesitate to tell me if I am) but wasn't it involved in a murder enquiry around 1983?

That's right Joanne, it is. It is set back slightly in the wood. Usually you can just see it, but with all the foliage on the trees at present, this may be difficult.

its funny because i never knew what it was but whenever im driving through greno woods from grenoside i tell my son " if hes naughty he'll go to the naughty boys home just in those woods " and point to the house

Don't think so. Wasn't Greno Grange on Salt Box Lane (wonder how Salt Box got it's name?)
