 I assume it means the current ticket machines around South Yorkshire. There is some discussion about  how more machines/outlets etc. could be introduced. 

 The platform machines were not too successful last time.

Unlikely to be a return of the platform machines. As Annie stated it'll refer to the ones currently available  in the interchanges.

There are self service ticket vending machines that sell weekly and monthly passes for Supertram, Stagecoach bus, First bus and Travelmaster at bus interchanges such as Sheffield, Arundel Gate, Meadowhall, Hillsborough and Rotherham. They will continue to sell tram passes under the new operator.

No problem, they were introduced when the staffed travel shops were closed by SYPTE (as it was then) so have been around a while now, although initially they only sold Travelmaster products.

Isn’t it a good thing that Supertram has been doing? Shouldn’t we lead by example? Isn’t the issue with other transport organisers in different regions, rather than the way we do it?

The ENCTS South Yorkshire division has faced dramatic cuts over recent years, such as the withdrawal of ENCTS Senior train privileges on Northern trains, resulting in the protests and fare evasion at Sheffield railway station. A good way to protect the ENCTS from cuts again would be to withdraw privileges afforded to users from other areas that aren't reciprocated here, for example travel card acceptance on trams. Why should South Yorkshire allow Greater Manchester residents to use theirs on Supertram when Greater Manchester won't allow South Yorkshire to use theirs on Metrolink?

Sheffield Interchange has ticket vending machines, I assumed it meant this. The conductor's jobs will be safeguarded by the unions and the conductors will be transferred under present employment (TUPED).

And - again - what's the problem in letting someone who deserves a concession have one. It is only spiteful to get into a -tit-for-tat about whether it is reciprocated or not. I personally don't care what other authorities do, I would like to see our authority do the right thing. Hopefully the other authorities would follow suit based on our shining example (and if they don't then we should shame them about it).

ENCTS was never allocated to any area to fund rail travel, this was paid for by reducing the amount paid to bus companies, the only legitimate recipients of the payment.

It would help to keep spending on the scheme down and keep it away from the attention of the axeman when he comes looking to make cuts on spending, less of a cause for concern.

ENCTS was never allocated to any area to fund rail travel, this was paid for by reducing the amount paid to bus companies, the only legitimate recipients of the payment.

This has had the result of making bus services carrying lots of ENCTS customers un viable and services being cut. Good innit?
