BP have just published profits of 7 billion pounds ,this followed  by Shell posting over 9 billion in profits , Our Energy bills are sending people into extreme poverty .

We are being conned by our Government or else they would step in and demand  that these gangsters in high places who's only concern is to make more and more  money for the rich share holders be stopped in their tracks .

Is there any sign that we have a party that would step in and stop this immoral situation , the answer is  not in this Country .

Yes, and that is only for one quarter of the year.

We are being pushed further and further into debt by the  those who pretend that they care .  Things need to change in the way we vote and choose our leaders .

We got the Government we voted for, we got the Government we deserve.  Don't forget what a gigantic majority the public gave them in the last election.

You can't vote a Tory Government into power, then moan about a Tory Government acting to form.

They are global profits.  They have also made a loss of £20 billion by removing their stake in a Russian oil company.

But clearly looking like recouping some of that given the massive profits coming in.

These greedy companies will always find a way to fill the void- greed feeds greed.

*our mistake

The public seem to believe there are no consequences for their actions, that needs to change.

Vote in a bunch of clowns and people will suffer.

It’s no use demanding that the major energy suppliers owe us. What needs to happen is that they want to help their financially under pressure users, which of course they don’t, however they do need persuading, not a bad move for the next Prime Minister, me thinks.

BP pay for their own mistakes to use your word from their global profits.  BP invest in the UK out of profit from their global operations.  Only a proportion of BP profits come from the North Sea and BP are expected to pay around £1 billion in tax  to the UK government from those profits.

The figures quoted are net of tax.

It needs a different system , the two main parties have very little to choose between them .

Yes of course because the amount of tax paid  is determined by global profits.  We only know the amount of tax BP have paid in the past.

What is with the "of course"?

Profit figures are quoted. You then say taxes come off those figures.

You were mistaken.

End of.

It's a bit of a weird one this.

The prices are driven by the global price of oil and gas which has sky-rocketed.

BP/Shell/etc, etc (the suppliers) are selling their product on the open market and as prices are sky high at the moment, they are making excess profit - their operating costs haven't gone up but the money they receive for their product has jumped.

British Gas/EoN/EDF/etc, etc (the middle men) are buying the product on the open market and as prices are sky high at the moment, it's costing a fortune which is then passed on the customers (you and me).

The only way I can see prices coming down for the end user, is for the suppliers to start selling their products at lower than the market rate. Is that even possible? Would that fall foul of any laws/regulations - I don't know about that. Would they even want to?

If you'd got a bar of gold in your attic and the value was £100,000 a bar - would you sell for £50,000?
