Quran and Modern Science - Conflict or Conciliation?

Recommended Posts

Muslims are actually allowed to eat pork!!!

Yes it states somewere in the Qu'ran that if all is available to eat is a pig then it is acceptable rather than dying of starvation, not many muslims know this either.

The trouble is it has to be in a near impossible situation such as stuck in a desert with a pig.

Ofcourse muslims know that ! Rather arrogant of you to assume they dont know what muslims can and cant do. What are you the Blair of Islam ?

IF its a case of life and death, then what is not permissable becomes permissable.

There are many versions of the the Bible Zafar, simply because it has been widely translated out of its original tongue.

Just like there are numerous English versions of the Qur'aan.

Pick up any two Hebrew versions of the Old Testament and they will be the same aswell.

Tut tut tut. Kay_Cee, I'm rather surprised with your response. :shakes::nono:

You seem to have problems or issues differenting between 'versions' and 'translations'.

There are many 'versions' of the bible in many 'translations', because there are many different sects/groups who compile their 'versions' of the Bible. They add in or remove text, depending upon how they view christianity and which books or scriptures they view as being genuine or not.

Yes, 'complete' it being the operative word, therefore annulled.

There are three parts to the OT law, The moral, the civil, and the ceremonial.

He upheld the first, whilst fulfilling the latter two.

This can be evidenced in how He dealt with the woman caught in adultry.

He stopped the imminent stoning, but upheld the moral code - "Go away and sin no more..."

We now come to God through His once and for all sacrifice, not the sacrifice of an animal which was nessacery after breaking any of the laws commands.

How can you complete something by annulling it ?

So according to your interpretation the pharisee's were correct in saying that Jesus wasn't completing the law (i.e. finishing it off with the final touches) ?

After all Moses, didn't 'nullify' the covenant of Abraham.

In a case of life and death, surely it would be be better to find an infidel and blow him and yourself up. Then you would be able to go to paradise, and him to hell, and the pig could live.

You consience would be clear

What it shows is the great importance attached to life by Islam.

There are other religions where for instance, even blood transfusions are not allowed in order to save a life.
