Shame.

It says we are poorer because of Brexit.

Why though?

Devaluation of sterling. Difficulties facing exporters and importers, especially in trade with the eu.. Labour shortages. Rising costs of capital for investment.

Its a good article. If you Google the headline, it links to a non paywall version.

Food and energy prices are more expensive throughout Europe so don't use that as an example

Are you so sure?

There is a bigger, still less rosy picture I’m afraid.

Being a small county on your own, in a big wide world of fast-consolidating economic blocs, is a tough gig.

Don’t mistake commiseration for ‘worry’.

I mean, I could try to care less. But that would be vindictive, and there’s no need for that.

Rishi Sunak orders ethics adviser to investigate Nadhim Zahawi’s tax affairs.

Mmmm.  Pity he didn't order it when he knew about it....months ago!

Same old, same old...Tories only react when they're found out...not when they know about wrongdoings.

So naive, though...they try to front it out, even when we know that a sacking/resignation is inevitable...no doubt it will be SIR  Nadhim in time.  After all, we have SIR GAVIN WILLIAMSON, for disservices to Education.

FFS!!

You have just proved  my diagnosis that you are obsessed with Brexit is correct.

I can understand your embarrassment at having voted for a lemon.

Who is getting poorer because of brexit?

The City.

Anyone who exports to the UK's primary market. Large, but also particularly small businesses.

(The variety of UK products exported to EU fell by 42% in 2022... so either those businesses went bust, or moved into the EU...

...UK exports slumped accordingly).

Farmers.

Fishermen.

Anyone who pays tax.

The Treasury.

The UK as a whole.

The list goes on... and is increasing!

Food and energy prices are more expensive throughout Europe so don't use that as an example

The Eurozone economy returned to pre-pandemic levels over a year ago...

...while the UK's, once a global superpower, is now compared to that of an “emerging market”.

If services aren't affordable now, there's no way they'll be able to keep up going forward with even less money.

At some point in the not so distant future, this is going to really hit home for a lot of folk...

...and most likely those from impoverished areas that voted for it the most.

So there is that! ;)

I voted to remain by the way

Good!
