Hillsborough - Who drove through mother duck and 7 ducklings?

Recommended Posts

It's hard call on whether it was intentional. If it was intentional, was it for fun or just because they didn't care at all and just wanted the lights. If it wasn't, what world were they in? Too busy staring at the lights as they rushed for them?

They must have been utterly distracted or blind to not see those ducks. You can tell from the video that car was far enough away and with a clear view to see those ducks and take evasive action easily.

So definitely driving without due care at a minimum.

Also, it looks like they have the drivers reg plate but was intentionally blurred out? If so there may be some justice after all.

Slightly more progressive countries have started creating green bridges for animals.

So it can be downgraded to driving without due care and attention then?

I have no idea. Can it?

I don’t think they’ll be able to prosecute for driving without due care and attention for running over a duck crossing a dual carriageway do you?

Using your expert road traffic law knowledge - enlighten the folk on SF as to the legal position.

You made the observation now back it up. Start with the RTA -

It's not reportable, I didn't say it was.

But based on the description Emma gave

"He sped up to get through the lights from the casino/dog track (forget the name of that road), and rather than joining the 2nd lane on Penistone Road, he swerved round the queue that was forming so he could join the inside lane instead."

That's driving without due care. Swerving into a lane without being able to see it's clear, whilst accelerating... To the extent that you can't stop when a hazard actually IS there. Yep, without due care.

Ah give over.

Give us your expert knowledge on how you think they’ll go about prosecuting the driver.

In fact - if you’re so sure of the legal position- have you reported it to the police?

I was replying to red fox re the RTA.

Every minor traffic infraction could be classed as without due care.
