Interview with Jim Phipps

Recommended Posts

A nice read from Jim's time at the Lane and a few other bits and bobs which I never knew about.

I think it's safe to say Jim is a newly adapted but 100% passionate Blade and genuine good guy.

Are you describing Phipps in that comment or is this how you introduce yourself to others? ??

Came out with a lot of credit as a decent man during the CHED Evans debacle.

Phipps reminded me of an educated Stratford.

Both wanted to do well for the clubs and they felt what they were doing was the correct course of action.

But ultimately, running a club was not for them.

My main problems with Phipps was how easily accessible and open he was to fans. Seeing him as a friend in common on Facebook with around 30 mutual friends or whatever.

Seeing him on Twitter making comments that no chairman should ever make.

Genuine nice guy though.

Have to agree, Have met Jim a few times, although he was a non drinker he often mixed with fans in the Cricks etc.

He closed the devide between board and the fans for sure, maybe too much, that proved to be his down fall.

He loves the club, not sure he understood the british game too much, but he was passionate about the Blades and the major factor in him being so popular amongst fans.
