Zamo   10 #133 Posted January 16, 2016 We did not start that war, it was the result of the Arab spring that was started in Tunisia in December 2010.  You're just playing silly semantics over what we mean by 'start'. We could point to hundreds of different incidents and claim that was the 'start' but what's the point? The fact remains that Western support for Syrian Rebels is the reason the civil war has perpetuated and why millions are now fleeing. Is it a reason to take in Syrians who bring their religious and cultural issues with them? No.  We don't have to pretend we didn't have anything to do with the conflict to argue against taking in refugees... they are separate issues and making another bad decision as penance (as the bleeding hearts would have us do) is ridiculous.
