How Can We Clean Up Politics In This Country?

Recommended Posts

Are you not familiar with the principle of tactical voting?

PR is not needed to remove the temptation to vote tactically. AV would have corrected that. The people rejected it and I guarantee that they'd reject PR for the commons.

So you are aware of tactical voting. How many more may have voted for UKIP had it been a different voting system?

I have no idea.

Conservatives voted tactically for UKIP to keep Labour out.

UKIPers voted tactically for the Conservatives to keep Labour out.

There was tactical voting all over the place.

But mostly people just vote for the party they want.

We were offered AV. AV allows you to vote ideologically and tactically at the same time. We rejected it.

It's done. We lost. It's over.

vox populi vox dei

You are saying that you have no idea, and then you are saying most vote for their first choice party, both cannot be true.

I know that most people vote ideologically. As to whether UKIP would have got 2 million or 6 million votes without tactical voting, I can't say.

electoral-reform society - Nearly one in ten people will be forced to vote 'tactically' on May 7th, according ... 9% of the public are planning on voting for a party that isn't their first choice.

2% fewer votes for the Tories would have meant that they wouldnt have a majority, although that is just a guess !!

So 91% voted ideologically. Consistent with what I said. Don't forget that some Conservatives also voted tactically for UKIP.

Are most environmentalists on the left?

Wouldnt there be 50% on the left and 50% on the right?

Mostly socialists I think. Otherwise you would expect a competing party to emerge as the Green party are staunch socialists.
