I babysat for the daughter of Dave Hemingway (other male singer alongside Paul Heaton in Beautiful South). I was at uni in Leeds at the time and he lived in Kirkstall... I was just looking for some extra cash and used to babysit for his daughter quite often.. he's a lovely guy!

Many years ago, too many to mention, well actually early/mid 60s I used to travel every Friday from Luton, where I lived to London, with other Luton Louts for a night in West End. One of these trips we stopped off for a few wets in Pinner, The Red Lion to be exact, directly opposite the tube staion.

 

There was a guy playing the piano, and we struck up a conversation. After a few weekly visits I said I played and he asked me to stand in for him while he went to the loo. From then on I had a regular spot while the resident player took a break.

 

I was paid, If I remember correctly 4 shillings for 1/2 hour.
