Good luck hosting it on a Thursday night. Most folk will be working the following day ! It's not like we're 21 anymore and could come in at 2am and get up for work at 7 anymore.

Is this still taking place as there is someone on facebook called Alan Senior saying it has been cancelled as he claims he is the 'Intellectual Property Owner'.

I've read a post of his it doesn't say it's cancelled it's just a moan about trademarks with the name "Josephines", no law in the land will prevent people who used to go somewhere years ago having a reunion like that, it's not exactly an Orange March through the town centre.

Josephine's was the classiest club in Sheffield, in its heyday. You went there if you wanted a more upmarket experience than in the other places, which were invariably cheaper.

Previous to that, the top club was Scamps, aka Penny Farthing. But also, there was Fiveways at Owler Bar, which was reincarnated as "Fanny's" some years later - and Nether Edge Hall, branded as "Turn-ups" at one time.

All of these were places where the "smart-set" went. Or, "poseurs" depending on which way you look at it.

Would I like to go on a Josephine's re-union? Not at all. I cannot think of anything worse tbh. Why would I want to subject myself to being in a room full of folks who are all way past their best now? Can you imagine, recognising someone that you fancied from all those years ago, and seeing them now with bingo wings and bulging parts, wrinkles and sags, or pot bellies and bald heads? It would just serve as a reminder that youth has passed us by.

I'm thankful that I never found romance in that place, which like a lot of clubs, was a cattle-market for folks desperately seeking others. Far better, I think, to meet someone in a more natural situation when neither of you is there for "trapping" purposes.

More info on it here. This Alan Senior bloke does seem to be a very bitter individual. Sure Dave Allen will 'sort him out' though.
