Embarrassing yet sincere question.

Is there a way you can sort anything with your car? Release some equity and maybe downgrade? its quite obvious you cant afford it at the moment.

The quitting smoking is expected as its an unneccesary expense.

The offer stands on the microwave repair if youd like me to take a look at it.

I know that no one wants to devalue themselves by changing their lifestyle or shopping habits etc but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Hopefully it will only be short term and youll have a better understanding of other peoples situations after.

Do you have no heating at the moment?

Yeah I spoke to Audi, and VW Finance who my finance is actually with - and they said that I'm stuck with it now that it's over the year since delivery. The only thing I can do is default on it, they'll come and collect the car - and I get charged an early default charge about equal to 2 months payment (£279pm normally)

Yeah you could do, it'd certainly open me back up to buying the slightly less exotic microwave meal deals, lol.

No heating at the moment. There's no supply on, N Power said they can come and do turn it back on (after fitting a payment meter from being defaulted), but it'll cost me £76, or I can have my own gas safe engineer to turn the supply back on at my own cost. I don't know any gas safe engineers to just ask one to do it, and I certainly can't afford it... so it's kind of just... been off for weeks.

Try listing the stuff you have for sale on here rob, its free.

I'll do that now starting with the Desk. The rest of the stuff is just tech stuff like IP phones that have been replaced by newer models and stuff - it's a tech bin primarily.

I do yeah, it hasn't got a scart cable thing for it though - just power and a controller.

I'll drop you a PM to have a look at it. :) Thank you!

Can you car share with someone from work to help with petrol costs? Not much to offer, but it might just help. That and going to a foodbank for advice as well as food. Could your employers give you an advance? Is there a local church that can help? Freecycling?Do not go to a payday loan company ever.

More people share your predicament than you would think, it's a scandal, but there's nothing to be embarrassed about. Hang in there, and focus on the fact that hopefully it will get better.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

Not the car but do you have anything you could pawn?

Ipad, gold, watch etc

A couple of small loans of family?

It's no shame mpst of us are a couple of bad weeks away from the edge.

It will pass, it doesn't feel like it but it will eventually pass

If you can get an appointment with a Citizen's Advice Bureau (some specialise in debt advice) that could be a help - they can often reorganise your repayments in a more realistic way, and spot anything you shouldn't be paying for.

Sorry for the bad news, but you have to ditch the car.

Look at it this way ... If you had no car just now, would you buy one for £20,000?

It will mean finding alternative transport for a couple of months until you have the penalty paid off and then have a few hundred saved to buy something else.

What type of credit agreement is on the car? If the car is handed back to the finance company they would probably sell it at auction and apply the proceeds against the outstanding debt still leaving the OP with a balance to pay.

He's already told you.

They would take the car and charge a penalty of about £600.

That isn't exactly how it works, you should be very careful about defaulting and obtain some independent legal advice before deciding what to do with the car.

If he defaults the finance company can claim that he breached the credit agreement allowing them to terminate it and leave him with no car and a large outstanding debt of several thousand pounds.
