Independent cafes?

Hello Hannah, try the Riverside cafe on catchbar lane, nr SWFC ground. Excellent food at very reasonable prices with an added bonus of having its own pub upstairs.

There is a new one called The Hide on the corner of Lambert Street and Scotland Street S3, looks interesting has all retro furniture that's also for sale and proper cakes baked by the owner.

 

Art studios are opening there too.

There's a really nice place that's just opened on Scotland Street, near West Bar. We popped in yesterday and the coffee was lovely. Nice chap that works there told us they're making it into an Arts Centre style building. Certainly worth a visit!!

 

It's called 'The Hide' and it's on the same side as the Police Station as you go up Scotland Street, just on the bend.

Eten on Eastern Parade near the Anglican Cathedral is good. I am biased but it is good.

There's a new cafe at Gleadless Town End called Dotty Nell's, good prives n spotless. It does a Knit n Natter, Yummy Mummy meets. Theres a notice up at the moment advertising a Turkish Night. Makes a change from the glut of Indians up there.

If you're looking just for drinks and cakes there's also Steel City Cakes on Abbeydale Road, where all of the lovely cakes are made by the proprietor.
