As someone who drives past it on a regular basis I can tell you the history.

1 dim both sides

2 full bright both sides

3 dim inbound, full bright outbound

4 dim outbound, full bright inbound

5 full bright both sides

6 dim inbound, full bright outbound

Current, dim both sides.

Ahem :)

Of course I didn't miss that, throughout that period the board never looked any different to me. Do you think that I should trust someone else's perception of the board's luminosity more than;

a) my own perception, which is usually excellent and has to be, in my line of work

b) rationality, which dictates that even if an action response to complaints was granted, they wouldn't keep sending an engineer out to make the sides brighter and dimmer on different sides, on different visits. The cost would keep mounting up and obviously the engineer would be incompetent

c) the perception of many others who think it doesn't look any different

d) the absence of an engineer, you'd have thought with how many visits he/she must have made, somebody might have spotted one in action.

You do realise that the adverts on the board change colour, and you do realise that some colours look brighter than others.

More than that, some colours are brighter than others, that's how light works

I think the problem with it is not just the brightness but, in the dark, if you are passing it when it changes from a mainly coloured ad. to one that is mainly white then it can be quite startling.

Exactly :). When it first went up, there was no fading from one advert to another....just BAM! next glaring advert

White is the worst, and then the rest of the colours would vary in intensity...

I hope the owner of the damn thing, sees what a nuisance his ineptness at brightness control has caused!

And I have a few choice words I'd like to share with him

So, who is the owner then?

How come you never answer posts that go against your opinion and insult people for disagreeing with you?

Lets get to the bottom of this then

To: FOI@sheffield.gov.uk

Good afternoon

I wish to make a Freedom of Information Request

1) In the financial years 2013/14 and 2014/15 to date, please can you tell me:

a) the number of complaints made to SCC regarding the illuminated advertising hoarding located in the car park adjacent to the Magnomatics building, overlooking the A57 Sheffield Parkway near its eastern terminus

b) the number of separate complainants making the above numbered complaints

c) the owner of the above sign

d) if the above illuminated sign currently complies with all published standards relating to its use.

Many thanks

Lets see what comes back.
