"......................especially those who are new and yet to take part, and we therefore established a global working group to consider how we can present data in a way that is not off-putting and doesn’t imply that parkrun is a race................"

"Based on the conclusions and recommendations of the project group, we will no longer publish data such as most first finishes, sub 17 men and sub 20 women, and age grade or category speed records. Alongside these, as part of our ongoing data protection improvements, the search function has been removed................."

".............we’ll continue to take steps to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy parkrun for what it is: a free community event and an opportunity to be active, social and outside in a non-competitive, inclusive and welcoming environment."

Above are quotes from parkrun news detailing changes in the way results are displayed. There are also additional changes to the touring most events list. Full item on the link at the top.

There is a lot of media interest in this and the various parkrun linked facebook  pages, like stats geeks and 'UK parkrun Tourists', 'parkrun World Tourists' and 'parkrun statsgeek group' are buzzing with comments, mostly negative.

I wait to see how the changes work in practice.

But, I am a bit of a stato and love to immerse myself in parkrun facts, figures, lists and details. I hope my access to this minutiae is removed from me.

Appreciate they are in a difficult position but to not only stop showing future  gender, age, group and course records  but also delete all previous records seems really unfair to those who hold them.

It was a lovely spring day, almost perfect weather across Yorkshire and the Humber for a parkrun.
61/64 events took place across the Yorkshire and the Humber region. Cancellations were at Beverley Westwood, New Earswick and Pontefract. The first two venues were still recovering from the weather; Pontefract was staging another running event.
Total attendance was 14536, an increase of 382 (2.7%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Endcliffe (771); the smallest was at Horton Park (40). Of the 61 events that also took place last week, 34 saw an increase in attendance and 27 were lower.
Events that had the same number of runners (doubles): Dewsbury and Halifax both had 154 runners, and Barnsley and Concord had 146.
Ancholme Valley Way staged its 100th event.
Anniversaries: Concord’s 13th, Wetherby’s 9th, Dalby Forest’s 8th.
Hull had their 260,000th finisher; Peter Pan their 80,000th.
Endcliffe’s attendance was the first ever instance of 771 in the region.
Endcliffe had the 10th highest attendance across the UK. York (719) was 15th, Woodhouse Moor (699) was 18th and Huddersfield (653) was 20th.
The rolling weekly regional average attendance of 12742 over the last year represents an increase of 19.1% when compared with the previous year (10700).
The 12-month average is the third
The large increase in rolling average and % increase since last week is mainly due to the low attendance that was seen on 11 March 2023 (weather related). Only two other Saturdays after that in 2023 (21 Oct & 2 Dec) saw a large number of cancellations.

As well as Christmas and New Year, Easter provides another opportunity for some events to register higher attendances than usual. With perfect weather across much of Yorkshire and the Humber, this proved to be the case this weekend.
61/64 events took place across the Yorkshire and the Humber region. Cancellations were at Epworth Equestrian, New Earswick and Oakwell Hall. Beverley Westwood returned after a pause of seven weeks.
Total attendance was 15721, an increase of 2389 (17.9%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at York (745); the smallest was at Bowling Park (70). Of the 60 events that also took place last week, 49 saw an increase in attendance and 11 were lower.
Events that had the same number of runners (doubles): Heslington and Lister Park both had 308 runners, Millfield and Skipton had 238, Cross Flatts and Nostell had 203, Concord and Conyngham Hall had 141, Ancholme Valley Way and Centre Vale had 137, and Armley and Sheffield Castle had 104.
There were record attendances at Roberts Park (652), Fountains Abbey (637) and North Yorkshire Water Park (296). Fountains Abbey broke their previous record (set on Easter Saturday 2019) by one.
Roberts Park became the 18th venue across the region to have an attendance of 600+.
Aggregate attendance for the region was the second highest since the post-COVID return.
This was the most events staged on one day with a lowest attendance of 70 (previous most was 57 events, with lowest attendance of 72 on 11 January 2020).
Woodhouse Moor staged its 800th event.
It was Cross Flatts’ 11th anniversary.
York had their 210,000th finisher.
York had the 14th highest attendance across the UK. It was the only event in the region to reach the top 30.
The average attendance per event per week over the history of parkrun has reached a new high of 209.06.
The rolling weekly regional average attendance of 12845 over the last year represents an increase of 19.7% when compared with the previous year (10727).
The rolling 12-month average is now the second highest ever, behind only 12906 on 15 February 2020.
The 10-week average (14650), is the sixth highest ever, exceeded only by the five weeks upto the COVID pause.

It's been a long haul but National and international numbers have now reached pre-COVID levels.

Quite a few mentions for Sheffield and Rotherham parkruns on the Yorkshire parkruns facebook page this week:-

Andrew Tupling........

After what was apparently the warmest May and Spring on record across the UK (no, me neither), the first day of the meteorological Summer dawned bright across Yorkshire and the Humber.
60/64 events took place across the Yorkshire and the Humber region. The cancellations were at Frickley Country (insufficient volunteers), Rother Valley, Rotherham and Temple Newsam.
Total attendance was 15658, an increase of 215 (1.4%) compared with last week. The largest attendance was at Huddersfield (760); the smallest was at Epworth Equestrian (39). Of the 56 events that also took place last week, 26 saw an increase in attendance and 30 were lower.
Median events: Oakwell Hall (207) and Concord (208)
Events that had the same number of runners: North Yorkshire Water Park and Wakefield Thornes both had 234, Graves and Skipton had 220, Cusworth Hall and Millfield had 182, Chevin Forest and Cross Flatts had 141, Conyngham Hall and Potternewton had 126, and Ancholme Valley Way, Sheffield Castle and Thorp Perrow had 115.
No individual event records this week.
Wetherby staged their 350th event.
It was Humber Bridge’s 10th anniversary.
Millhouses had their 50,000th finisher. (Who was finisher 196 who recorded their 8th run in a p.b.)
Huddersfield had the 14th highest attendance across the UK, Woodhouse Moor (755) was 15th and Endcliffe (751) was 16th.
The attendance at Woodhouse Moor was the first time that specific attendance has been recorded in the region.
The rolling attendance over the last 10 weeks (15654) continues on its upward trend.
This was the eighth consecutive week (and ninth time out of ten) that regional attendance exceeded 15,000. The only time the attendance didn’t reach 15,000 in the last 10 weeks was on 6 April (14,927).
The mean attendance for the history of parkrun across the region has reached a new high of 210.10.
**Look out for a VERY significant milestone announcement next week.**
The rolling weekly regional average attendance of 13281 (a new record) over the last year represents an increase of 20.2% when compared with the previous year (11047).
