  1. Absolutely, seeing them doing that stuff once was mildly entertaining but now it’s just lame. The only thing that keeps it going at all isAnt and Dec and even that’s waining now.
  2. Agree walking is a brilliant way of keeping fit its free you are outside whats not to like and anyone who says its not vigorous enough try walking up Hangingwater road quickly!
  3. Time to drop this tired and outdated show.
  4. Considering it’s only open 5 hours a day and closed Saturday would not bet on it.
  5. I think in a few years you will only have branches in city centres and possibly shopping centres and only a matter of time before they go.It’s all about profit and branches may provide useful services but so many of the more profitable services are now sold online.
  6. Update finally got it sorted 45 min queue on the fraud line and no indication of waiting time or where you are in the queue. So 3 hours to sort a basic issue.
  7. Yes I really do fear for the future of "physical" banks even the ones still open are trading for shorter and shorter hours and they still try to direct you to either the machines or online. I spoke to a helpful staff member at TSB a couple of years back and when I pointed out how busy they are and asked why they were still closing branches she said the problem is the people using the branches use them for services that dont make them extra profit.
  8. Non existent service from Nat west if you are going to close your branches at least make sure your phone system works. Two hours wasted transfered from one department to another only to be put on hold for 30 minutes plus with no reply 3 times and its the fraud department that does not answer! No "you are xx" in a queue or waiting time just rings forever. Assistant hinted that there are some issues with staff taking/not taking calls from home!
  9. Agree with this. The site is over moderated now.No problem at all with moderated posts that are rude or aggressive but removing posts for minor things like being slightly off thread when someone has taken the time to post is way ott,Have been here 17 years and its nowhere near as widely used as it was but much of that is due to facebook and Twitter. You need to encourage people to post not delete them for petty reasons.
  10. Sadly back pain can be a long and slow recovery. Of course the treatment depends on the issue and would not do anything without taking professional advice as it could make it worse but for me a foam roller worked wonders. Took me about 5 years but mine eventually went was difficult to know what worked because pain would come and go but eventually put it down to stretching and the roller physio said it was a compressed nerve rather than anything to do with bones or discs.
  11. Exactly. Many rural and even other city's have far fewer services than we do. First Bus made a loss of £150m last year and with ever falling passenger numbers can only see things getting worse.
  12. Could not agree more have used the venue and the pool in particular regularly over many decades. The staff were always friendly and have particularly fond memories of Charlie Quinn RIP. who was a great personal trainer there and became a friend .The pool was regularly used for national events and the atmosphere was always buzzing when they were on but in the week during the day had a lovely relaxed feel.Really hope they can save it but I fear the worst there were rumours it was closing before.
  13. https://www.thestar.co.uk/health/sheffields-ponds-forge-remains-closed-300-jobs-risk-redundancy-2939986 Sad to see this have some great memories of the place but seeing as they had serious financial problems even before this things don't look great.Hope they survive.
  14. Am surprised neighbours are happy having a mess like that on their doorstep would not be over the moon if it was me.Its hardly like it’s been a few months it’s been years now.
  15. Next to no chance of it being a pub again imo. Nobody wanted to invest before but now with many existing pubs struggling to survive cant see anyone wanting to spend the huge investment needed here, the place is a mess.
  16. Bet the neighbours will be glad to see it gone been an eyesore for too long.
  17. I actually found it much easier to run to work in poor weather, it does not take that much longer than cycling on shortish commutes and much less stress!
  18. I used to cycle to work every day and did it for a couple of years. Most of the time I really enjoyed it but cycling in the spring/summer in good or even average weather and cycling in the winter in the cold and rain are worlds apart. I consider myself quite fit and the rain rarely stops me going for a walk or run but cycling on cold/wet/windy days require planning, the right gear and determination and is not much fun!Even with all that when you get to work you are often cold and soaking wet so unless you have showers at work its not easy. Then you have the issue that you are cycling to and from work in the dark which is more dangerous and requires the correct equipment/clothes to be seen.I went through numerous sets of lights on my bike as the rain kept finding a way in and shorting them and then you have to remember to charge your batteries or you will pay a lot using disposables. With all this in mind and the hills in Sheffield which are much harder to climb with the strong winds you get in winter makes me very doubtful that we will see anything like the amount of cyclists we see now in the winter when the roads are busiest. I am pro cycling and would love to see it remain popular but the virus and unusually good weather have provided the perfect environment for it the real test will be November-April and I don't think a few bike lanes on the side of a busy road will make that much difference.
  19. Totally agree can not see any way they could make it safe the start line would have to run to Rotherham lol.Safety has to come first. Had a good summer of running anyway (with not much else to do) plenty of long slow easy runs just enjoying it with no pressure.Got some nice knew max cushion shoes,(Hoka Clifton 6) which really help my dodgy knees. Hows everyone else getting on?
  20. Chesterfield half cancelled for good going to be a 10k in future really disappointing liked that race a lot I don’t think they will get as much interest in a 10k.
  21. I think with some people money becomes an addiction they just want to see it build up in their bank account and never spend it until it’s to late . Sadly have seen this happen recently.
  22. Or a million liquid as they say in the states lol I would imagine property plays a part in most Sheffield millionaires finances. Am a firm believer that money does not bring happiness that comes from other things like family and loved ones but it DOES bring comfort.
  23. A million is not a huge amount of money these days would imagine there are well over a thousand of them in Sheffield.
